No point in going to the town hall. Government has made a decision and all EIA and other necessary approvals will say it is OK. Fact is a new hospital needs to be built, if this area, which i always thought was the old well areas and therefore prone to flooding, is the best then so be it. But Government should really show the reasons why other areas are not good and why PMH is not realistic. On PMH i know the land is scarce, but they could get a lot of land if they knocked down Collins house (yes a historic building but it is turning to ruin so of no use), build a multistorey car park on its location and then use the land used as a car park now for a new hospital. But all they are doing now is saying this is for here, like it or lump it.
This is a loan. They are not paying for it. At 2% interest over 20 years if compounded will mean it will cost around $432 million at the end. I am not saying that the 2% is a bad rate, just they should not be implying that the Chinese are paying for it, when it will be us. Of course the government of today fully knows they will most likely not be around when it comes time to pay, so they don't care.
Yes it is. As Mr. Gomez points out he is the owner of 50% of the shares. He also points out that as a Bahamian the Maryland court has no jurisdiction over him. The same court that says the other people can look after the dolphins. If that has no jurisdiction over him, then he is responsible (50%). Also by him wanting the funds for the sale of the dolphin in escrow so he can get his share, he is showing that he is responsible for them. If he wasn't then why does he want the funds in escrow?
When he got his 50% shares in the company he took over having to look after the dolphins. So yes he has a lot to do with them. But like most politicians he only wants to reap the rewards and not pay the bills.
This shows what a joke we are. The supreme court orders it to be shut, and yet it is still open. We all know why they could get away with that. We are a joke nation and have been for a while.
Can we have a detailed breakdown of what the actual cost were to host the games?. If it was only a couple of hundred thousand then maybe it was worth it. If however it was $5-10 million then maybe not. Without knowing the cost the rest doesn't matter. And we will never know the cost, just be told to trust those who benefit from the spending that it was worth it.
This is the Government's new plan. They are going to get the private sector to do everything, who will then charge to do this as they do have to make a profit. At the same time Government will not shrink but stay just as large and use all the current revenue they make (and then some). Look at the new import company for items flying in. Charging more to do so and doing customs job, and yet not 1 customs officer has been let go as being now unnecessary.
By the Govt buying the airport they didn't have to as it passed into Govt hands. The Government should have forced them and Hutchisson to build it but didn't
