Maybe they had negative retained earnings after COVID as they had to operate with no income and still bills. The upturn in tourists came late 2021 early 2022 so June 30 2022 still had those loss making months to deal with. Of course they could also be run to make as little profit as possible in normal times so the parent company makes the most.
Based on the above, although i am loathe to agree with them it seems Government maybe right. Will be interesting to see the outcome.

Why does Mr Fernander care how a business looks after their accounts. if a company has over $5 million in revenue and doesn't need an overdraft why would they have the expense of an audit? I understand that Mr. Fernander and the DIR have no idea how to run a business but maybe its better for him not to say anything. All they have done is make the ease of doing business in this country much harder and just so they can get money at an earlier date then normal, whilst also changing what revenue means. Its incredible that he has just admitted that at least 24 of the biggest companies here, have not been able to meet the business license requirements due to how onerous they are. We are over half way through the year and they are still unable to do this. To make it worse he has indicated that they will do it again next year.

Ahh Government showing how easy it is to get what you want by doing what you want. This is a done deal. They are now trying to look like they are doing something. Didn't the MP say that had all EIAs etc and clearances in hand. If that is so why stop it. We all know they didn't and there is now a scramble to get them it and make it look like they did all along. But hey its almost time for the PM to tell everyone how important the environment is.

I wonder if anyone has told the PM this is happening? I am sure if he knows he will stop it. He has traveled the world telling people of the impact of climate change on the environment and how we must change. I suggest once he comes back from his trip he be told and then it will stop. Must be very annoying for him to find out that people are doing this when it goes against everything he talks about.
