SP, what a mean-spirited post for no reason. Show a little humanity instead of your mean character. Human beings are suffering and you want to make it political. Disgraceful.
Birdie, clearly you are not aware that there are black Bahamians who reside and own homes in Lyford Cay, Old Fort Bay and Albany. Or are you conveniently ignoring that fact?
And as for "their" beach -- I'm sure you're also aware that no one owns the beach in the Bahamas.
Nygard is a criminal and should be treated as such. If he followed the law, there would be no issue. His contempt and disrespect for the Bahamian people is astounding. And you are too stupid to see that you are being used by Nygard as a tool to his ends.
BahamaPundity Mitchell, the other Lyford Cay residents follow the law and do not show the same kind of wanton disregard and disrespect for the country -- either those as guests or as Bahamian citizens. None are above the law, though Mr. Nygard seems to think he is. The residents of Lyford Cay have nothing to fear -- in fact, many welcome the enforcement of Nygard's contempt.
This should be publicised more and our young Bahamians encouraged to take advantage of the skills and training being offered.
BTW, does anyone see Disney offering to collaborate with the maritime academy to encourage and develop young Bahamians for the cruise ship industry? Oh, they're too busy trying to destroy Lighthouse Point.
Disney must not be allowed to desecrate yet another pristine area in the Bahamas. Let's look at their Castaway Cay property. What have the done for the Bahamas and Bahamians? A few paltry jobs to clean up after the hordes of tourists leave. Disney has their own staff on the ships and bring them ashore when the ships are in port. So what kind of jobs will they bring to Eleuthera? Is it worth a few low-paying jobs?
And there's no way to make a place "sustainable" with 2500+ people being disgorged from these megaships 4 or 5 days per week. No way!
Disney must go elsewhere -- go find a nice US property in the Florida Keys to destroy and leave the Bahamas alone!
I'm stunned at some of these comments. So-called Christians at that!
Where is your empathy? Your compassion? My God talks about that -- yours apparently doesn't.
This man must be in serious emotional pain to have done something so drastic. And now he is suffering tremendous physical pain - and may not make it, depending on the extent of his injuries. This is someone's son, someone's brother, and someone's friend. He didn't shoot anyone, he didn't hurt his girlfriend, he didn't harm anyone but himself. Can we not be a little kinder and not so quick to judge?
I'm disgusted with some of these comments - especially those who call themselves Christians.
As much as I'm not a fan of Mr. Darville, I agree with him on this one. Oban offers the Bahamas nothing, but a polluted and toxic waste dump. Have a look a the refinery in St. Croix and see the track record there. Hundreds of millions in clean-up costs -- and guess who has to pay for it!?! (Hint - not the offenders) Do we want this for the Bahamas for a few jobs?
Nothing to do with the bfa -- wada states that when tests are missed, it can be treated as if it were an adverse analytical finding. If Higgs didn't want to be suspended, then he should have been available to take the drug test. It's as simple as that.

Are you kidding? $2.2 million won't get you anywhere near the ocean at Lyford cay! You might find a fixer upper on a small lot for that.

Or maybe there were things on the estate that Nygard didn't want found.
Either way, I hope he's thrown in Fox Hill for contempt at today's sentencing hearing.
