Yes, Mr. Davis, we understand that you will "open on your own terms", but it's not an unreasonable question to ask -- when are you actually opening? April 22nd? What happens after the big PLP rally party, oh sorry, the "soft" opening on April 21? Big party, then everyone goes home? So, when are you prepared to state the actual date the resort will be open for PAYING guests?
Besides, the casino license hearing only took place today -- 21 days before you say you are OPEN! So you can surely understand why there may be critics?
For people who claim to have the answer -- there are few answers being given.
When will these union leaders realize that people will only have jobs if the businesses are there and able to do business. The hard reality is that a business exists to make money. When the bottom line is compromised by idiotic regulations and red tape that hamstring the employer's ability to do business, then they close down. Simple as that. These unions and the PLP government seem to think businesses are charities that OWE Bahamians jobs.
If Mr. Curry had such a terrible conflict between his 2 jobs, perhaps he should have resigned one of them, and there would then be no conflict to worry about. Otherwise, it just sounds like excuses.
Wow, for a reverend and supposedly a man of learning, you sure are ignorant of your own history! Of course, you probably wouldn't know better, as that's the only Bahamian history taught in schools -- the one where the Bahamas began in 1967 and there were no white Bahamians. Keep telling yourself that and revel in blissful ignorance.
And I suppose it's all the white people's fault too, hmmm?
Will you show "Roots" for your next church sermon as well? The ignorance of so many supposedly learned people continues to astound me -- but what else can we expect in a country where a D+ national average is celebrated?
Birdie, your point is totally invalid. Perry Christie is the Prime Minister and as such has no such thing as a "private residence". Do you think leaders of other countries get to cry foul at their "private residences"? The fact that we the people pay the bills at that "private residence" means we have every right to peacefully assemble outside and make our voices heard. No one is suggesting that they are going to enter the premises or trespass, but then again, that's the way you think, isn't it?
Christie needs to stop hiding behind the skirts of his family and man up and face the nation and answer why he and his government have failed the people so miserably. If that means going to his house to do so, then so be it!
With no casino license in place? With no rooms actually booked? And with less than 30 days to go? This government blows as much smoke as the dump fires.
Alex_Charles, agreed, but in the case of death or serious injury, they should serve longer terms -- equivalent to homicide and reckless endangerment, as appropriate.
Same old and tired story. The Carnival will go on - for many of the reasons the above poster suggests. The PLP must keep their financiers happy - doesn't matter if the whole damn island is on fire and smoke is choking everyone -- the show must go on!
It's a 21 x 7 mile island! How can these just go missing? Most don't have buildings big enough for these containers to be hidden inside, so it's not like they are hard to find. So idiotic, as usual!
