Unless Perry Christie plans to create 32.000 voters as well, he'll just have to face facts that people aren't registering. There's no one to vote for!

Exactly. I'm 12th generation white Bahamian and can trace my ancestry to the Eleutheran Adventurers in 1648. So how exactly am I not considered a Bahamian?

The marine quoted as saying he should have been promoted over other marines because he has more training is nonsense. It's a sense of entitlement -- I did more training, so I gets more. Nope, it's how you do your job. Maybe the fellows with less training are just better at doing their job and have a better attitude. That's what's wrong with this country -- wanting stuff without having to earn it.

Besides, the "investigation" never found anyone responsible for the abuse of the Cuban detainees. They must have beaten themselves up then. Someone (singular or plural) was responsible, but never held accountable. Maybe that's what's happening now.

Many black Bahamians do not like white people, period -- that is true and I see it very damn day. Only thing is, I'm a white Bahamian. And why is it that many black Bahamians don't think there are such things as white Bahamians? They don't like their own countrymen, so it certainly stands to reason they don't like the foreign ones either. Call it like it is, Mr. Smith. And you know he's right.

Affordable and reliable -- what planet is Mr. Davis on? Those are words I'm not even sure BEC or BPL, or for that matter, the PLP. understand the definition of.

As for patience -- we've been plenty patient for many years. Patience wears thin after you've been told so many lies.

Ouch, until we can build and maintain out island airports that meet international standards, we have no business taking on such a task! It's nice we're getting some money back from the US, but I'll be just as happy having the FFA and Miami directing traffic than us here in Nassau (power outages, strikes. go slows, etc. - can you just imagine?)

And where will the refunded money go? The black hole of the Treasury never to be seen (or accounted for) again?

DillyTree says...

Again? How many millions did this "new" system cost us? And why do we need it? I do wish they could just focus on getting the current passports out in a timely manner, but that would be asking far too much of Flyaway Freddy.

Sounds like a great alternative to the mostly lousy government school option. However, I am wondering who would board their children? At $30k a year, I can't see many kids coming from the out islands, so who are they trying to attract?

And the timing is such that PLP fools will leap up and down in the streets as though the Messiah has arrived shouting that the PLP has saved the country by opening Baha Mar. Oh, that right, there's an election just after this "opening"....

Wonder if they'll still be handing out the t-shirts and cash on election day, or will these paltry few jobs be enough to pacify the ignorant masses?

I don't think anyone is complaining about having to get a license -- that is common around the world, and the fees are more than reasonable.

The problem many visitors (and Bahamians) are having is that they cannot go fly fishing without hiring a guide if there are 2 or more people in the boat. Why should I, as a Bahamian with a Bahamian registered boat who knows where I'm going and what I'm doing, need to hire a guide? This is absurd on so many levels! Surely the DIYers don't need to be babysat when, in many cases, they have more experience and better equipment than any local guide.

I'm glad you brought up "environmental "issues -- do you know what the biggest threats to bonefish in the Bahamas are? Bahamians using nets to illegally harvest bonefish for bait, encroachment and pollution of our mangroves, and acid rain due to environmental pollution (think exhaust fumes, BEC generators, burning of bush, etc.) And don't even get me started on enforcement of our laws -- when our own government officials do not follow the law, it's hard to expect the people to do so. It's way too easy to blame the foreigners than to take a hard look at ourselves!
