And you think Dr. Minnis was the only one to put up his share of the funds? His own personal funds? Maybe he should be telling who financed him?

Besides, the very fact that the FNM party as a whole didn't fund the convention speaks to the mess it's currently in. Minnis cannot garner financial support, and will have trouble financing a campaign for 2017. Or will he find some saviors in those poor people he's always talking about representing?

He needs his head examined to run in Long Island. They will run him out so fast his head will spin. Just ask the good people of his current district how they feel about him!

DillyTree says...

No, Mr. Turnquest, it will not. Your behaviour at the convention was reprehensible and not becoming of a leader. I think you'll find many FNMs have been turned off by yours and Minnis's childish and corrupt behaviour and will seek strong independent candidates to vote for in 2017. You two have sealed the fate of the once great FNM party.

If you think a few dances on stage, hand-holding and lip service to unity is going to get you out of the hole you've dug for yourselves, you've got some rude awakenings coming!

I think many of us could well have dealt with the loss of Mrs. Turner and Dr. Sands had it been a fair fight, but you and your mob ensured there would be no fair play or integrity in the process. Now you have to live with that. Was it worth it?

DillyTree says...

And Doc will lose this election for the FNM. Why do you think Leslie Miller and the other PLP goons (including Toggie and Bobo) were out campaigning for him? So congratulate yourselves into giving the PLP another 5 years to destroy the country.

And if you think Minnis will do anything to stop it, you're as big a fool as he is. Where do you think he's going to get his campaign money from? Certainly not the number boys, Nygard and the Chinese. And most of the large FNM supporters won't donate money as long as Minnis is there. So what will he do -- turn to his poor, ignorant masses?

DillyTree says...

When Dr. Minnis has made the FNM party go against the very beliefs, tenets and philosophies the founding fathers wanted for the FNM, then it's no longer the same party. Minnis has made the once great FNM into a splinter group of the PLP. That I want no part of.

So don't talk to me about following the leader of the party. It's no longer the FNM.

DillyTree says...

Despite what Mrs. Turner says about choosing the FNM because she "believe(s) in the ideals and the philosophies of it", I can only say that I no longer do, and will never vote FNM again while Minnis is leader. The Founders of the FNM must all be turning in their graves as to what a travesty Minnis has made of the original ideals and philosophies on which the party was founded.

This "convention" has been a disgrace of huge proportions and has only served to show the underhandedness, corrupt and arrogant nature of Minnis and his followers. And that simpleton Peter Turnquest actually had the gall to get up on stage and talk unity while publicly dividing. No better than the two-faced talk of the PLP!

Of course! Corruption and greed wins every time. In the meantime, the Bahamian people continue to suffer. I hope it was worth it for the delegates.

DillyTree says...

After being a life-long FNM, the party is now dead to me. I will NEVER vote for Minnis and his corrupt, arrogant, inept platform. I have no idea who will run as an independent in the Killarney district, but I will be voting for them in 2017.

Thank you, delegates -- you and Minnis deserve each other. I hope you all get whatever you sold your souls for. May you all rot in hell for what you have done to our Bahamas and the Bahamian people.May you all live long enough to see the damage you've done!

DillyTree says...

My tenure as a life-long FNM will come to an end tonight if Minnis emerges as leader of the party. I might as well vote PLP, as that will be the result of the 2017 general election if Minnis is leader.

A sad and bleak future for the Bahamas indeed. Yet it is the sobering reality we will face if the delegates cannot put aside their own self-interests and see what is best for the country and the party as a whole.

DillyTree says...

This is an outrageous suggestion, Mr. Lightbourn! Women have the right to control their own bodies, and sterilisation should never be forced upon anyone. This has shades of Nazi Germany all over it.

That said, Mr. Lightbourne acknowledges the stunning fact that so many children in the Bahamas are born out of wedlock to mothers who cannot support or nurture them -- perhaps leading to a variety of the social ills we face today -- crime, gangs, overcrowded schools, socially inept children, youth unemployment, etc.

Clearly something must be done. How about this solution?

1. Two children max will be supported by the government. After that, you're on your own. Why should the public pay for your indiscretions? Assistance to be contingent on finding a job within 1 year, with job training available if needed. No working, no pay. Simple.

2. Birth control must be made available to women free of charge (remember this amazing National Health Insurance program we're supposed to be getting?) Tubal sterilisation would also be available to women who request it at a modest cost. Ditto on young men opting for vasectomies. But NEVER forced!
