ThisIsOurs, when was the last time you heard anyone talk about PGC's or Brave's stylists? Or how they wore their suits? Why are women held to a very different standard than men -- especially when it comes to politics?
Loretta isn't fostering anything -- other than trying to help those of her constituency who have been ravaged by Hurricane Joaquin. She has not declared herself as a contender to Minnis. In fact, she is hesitant to put herself and her family through all the hassle and dirty dealings. If her supporters are the ones calling for her to run for leadership, how is she "fostering" anything?
Capable of leading....those with any sense know that absolute power corrupts absolutely. A democratic process must exist, but checks and balances, and transparency preventing corruption and tyranny must also exist as part of that process. .
Minnis has had 3 years to show leadership. He is utterly incapable of being a leader, and is not the one to carry the FNM into the next election. Minnis at the helm is assuring a PLP victory.
If Minnis had any self-awareness, he would see this and step down and let someone who is capable of leading and has demonstrated proven leadership ability lead the way. It's essential this be someone capable of unifying the party and adhering to the original principles of the FNM.
Hold a proper convention (with ALL the rules and delegates in place) and let the chips fall where they may. I'll support the party, even if I don't like the leader, but until then as a voter I'm disgusted with Minnis's behaviour and his lack of leadership.
Let's see, many people trusted him to solve crime, build BAMSI, open Baha Mar, strengthen our economy, use VAT to decrease national debt, not borrow more money from the Chinese, honor court judgments (Nygard and Blackbeards Island), respect the will of the people in the gambling referendum, hold the equality referendum as promised, and not make a laughing stock of our country. What have they done successfully?
And he wants the Bahamian people to trust him?????????
Debbie, would you still say the same if it were shown that Minnis stacked the deck in his favour for the convention? A recent letter writer and current FNM committee member stated that out island delegates were told they would have to pay their own way to Nassau -- except the ones for whom Minnis paid their expenses. If there's any truth to this (and I've heard others state similar allegations), then I would be asking myself if in fact Minnis did win the convention. One way to confirm this for once and for all is to have another convention -- and make damn sure ALL the delegates are present, not just the chosen ones.
If Minnis is so certain as the undisputed leader, then he should be happy to have a convention to show off his support instead of behaving like a spoiled child who doesn't want to play by the rules. What is he so afraid of?
Abaconian, would you still agree with your words if it were proven that Minnis stacked the deck in his bid to win the convention? Would you still say Minnis was decided as the leader?
I hear you BID, but voting green or staying home is as good as a vote for the PLP. I'm no Minnis fan either, but I definitely can't cope with another 5 years of the PLP.
Minnis has to go. He suffers from Small Man Syndrome, and is utterly incapable of leadership. The only reason I would vote FNM at this point is that Perry and his band or merry criminals are a far less palatable option. The Bahamian people deserve better choices!
Well done, Mr. Hall. It's refreshing to read stories about young Bahamians doing well and achieving lofty goals. I do hope he returns to the Bahamas after his internship, as there is much to be done to fix our Bahamaland.
This only shows how many desperate and gullible people there are out there, led on and deceived by a government who doesn't give a damn about their health -- just their votes.
