So as his last say, do you think that means that Gray will "invite" Christie to fire him? Or to sweep the whole mess under the rug? (It's getting to be a damn big rug...)

Look up the word "gratuity" in the dictionary -- it says nothing about being entitled to one. Enough with this "gimme gimme" nonsense by the employees and unions. Easy solution -- make the hotels pay a liveable wage and make gratuities discretional -- (voluntary for those with the D+ average)

A gratuity should be earned, not expected. That is part of the reason our level of service across the board in this country has gone to hell in a handbasket as no one cares -- they get their gratuity anyway.

And we all know what the outcome will be. No suspense there. What a farce.

Most of the murders committed these days seem to be by people already out on bail, so why shouldn't Mrs. Vasyli also be granted bail? So, for once, the good court sees fit to keep someone charged with murder on remand. Hmm, don't know if to be impressed or laugh.

Fire them all and hire replacements -- even if we have to bring in foreign ATCs. It should be against the law for "vital services" personnel to a) belong to a union b) go on strike. The unions continue to be the death of this country, as they always want MORE without understanding that the country is in a poor financial situation and there's no more to be had. Idiotic simpletons.

birdiestrachan and I tend not to agree very often, but she makes an excellent point. Our healthcare system should be more about prevention than treating. Thousands of Bahamians are overweight, have high blood pressure, suffer from diabetes and a host of other ailments that, in many cases, can be avoided with eating healthy, exercise and looking after ourselves.

While we all get sick at some time or another, I think more people will get even sicker with yet another tax to pay -- when we are getting so little back in return as it is!

Well said, Economist! People want all the freedom, and flag-waving patriotic stuff, but don't want the responsibility that comes with being independent.

And Birdie, if I actually thought the government would use my money to make the lives of those in the detention center better, I would happiliy donate -- just as I do to several well-known (and accountable) Bahamian charites. Unfortunately, our current governement believes it is totally unaccountable to the Bahamian people on so many matters. The current government spends far too much with far too little accountablility. Flyaway Fred's travel budget alone would no doubt go a long way to fixing the problem.

This is getting really embarassing for the Bahamas. No doubt Mr. Mitchell will dismiss these finding as "nonsense" as his arrogance normally does. No matter how we feel about illegals, they are still human beings and deserving of humane and decent treatment. If we cannot do this, then our own humanity is in serious doubt.

And as for finding money to feed/house/clothe those in the detention center, maybe Flyaway Fred should give up his travel budget and stay home to deal with more pressing issues than running around the world looking for new friends.

Is that the best you've got, generalcrazy? So when people ask hard questions, you start name-calling. How mature.

BTC has been riding the gravy train for too long. It's bloated, overstaffed and never been asked to run as a proper business. With a monopoly, they've never been accountable or competitive. The times they are a' changing!

I can't wait for competition to enter the ring. Then maybe we'll have lower bills and a more efficient telephone service.
