Congratulations to all the graduates!

Now if only those 10,000 jobs promised by government will materialise for them.

Agreed, there seems to be confusion even within the organisers minds.

Why not just have a Junkanoo festival, then it doens't have to be "styled" anything. Carnival is carnival. Junkanoo is Junkanoo. And nowhere else in the world has Junkanoo -- so it is unique.

How about we end the confusion and just call it Junkanoo Carnival. That should keep everyone happy.

Maybe it will be Christie himself so he can wear 3 hats and have even more nonsensical conversations with his other personalities. The whole thing is such a farce.

You mean like Peter Nygard?

No question the miniumum wage should be higher, as the cost of living has gone up considerably. However, to do it in this economic climate is just asking for trouble. With VAT looming and no relief of duty and freight costs, many busiinesses are barely hanging on. If wages increase now, many businesses will have to close their doors.

Then raising the miniumum wage will mean nothing if jobs are lost when businesses close.

Folks, this is the same man who refuses to understand why paying his bill of $100,000 in CASH is a problem. What else do you expect?

DillyTree says...

Isn't anyone just a little curious why Leslie (and his family members) just happened to have $100,000 in CASH laying around? Why not just get a bank cheque? What's the source of this huge sum of cash? I sure as hell would want to know, wouldn't you? And if PGC had any shred of integrity, he would be asking the same questions -- after firing Miller.

It's as good a place as any to start digging in that crowded field of yours. And if we keep digging, I'm sure many more will show up -- unless of course, they all run to the treasury tomorrow with $100,000 in cash to pay off their outstanding taxes.

Memories indeed! We're just reaping what was sown back in the 80s and earlier. No more "nation for sale" mandate, it's become "nation all for me, baby" with no regard to the needs and good of the Bahamian people.

Another corollary is if we do not learn from our history, we are doomed to repeat it. And the mistakes just keep on coming. When will we learn?

DillyTree says...

I am a Bahamian who pays all my bills on time -- electric, tax, property tax, National Insurance, etc. So do all of my 80-something relatives, so this talk about giving her a pass because she's old doesn't wash. Most old people aren't getting $75k a year for doing absolutely nothing -- have you seen what National Insuance expects people to live on these days? Stop making excuses for her -- she needs to pay her taxes like everyone else. And if she can't pay them, sell the house and move into a nice condo or apartment somewhere. That is everyone else's reality.
