What about those of us in the family islands awaiting our first shot? This vaccine has a very high efficacy after just one shot. We should vaccinate as many as possible and move on to the second shot as supplies permit.

In most countries if you were put on a ventilator you had a greater than 50% chance of dying. It is not the magic bullet people think it is.

DonAnthony says...

Lose weight. Practice discipline and you will live. This man almost certainly died because of the cumulative effects of years and years of over consumption. The government did not force food into his mouth, not their fault. It is personal responsibility.

DonAnthony says...

You really believe obese people have a longer life expectancy than those who are not? Get real. I am one of those persons who lives in a sparsely populated island with minimal health facilities. We would love a hospital but who is going to pay for it? We don’t even have an ambulance. We love island life and that is the trade off we willingly make to be out of Nassau and all it’s problems. It is completely unrealistic and unfair to expect govt to provide the level of healthcare you expect given our dire fiscal state.

DonAnthony says...

What about personal responsibility? You sound like so many Bahamians who make very poor decisions and expect the government to pay for the consequences. My condolences to the family, this gentleman seemed very loved in the community but there are consequences for being extremely obese and unfit, do we buy 600lb suits now? No, how about losing some weight and getting healthy and taking personal responsibility over your life.

DonAnthony says...

That is a part of it. Most Companies have lower revenues, and net incomes during the pandemic, hence lower valuations and share prices. Quite surprising share prices have held up as well as they have with large segments of economy closed.

DonAnthony says...

It is compared to costing half or a quarter the price on other cruise lines.

DonAnthony says...

I agree with you, our Bahamian people love to complain. This is an upscale cruise with the base cost $2000 per person for the seven day cruise. Will all 900 persons want to go onshore in Harbour island? Probably not. This is only for an inital run of 16 trips. Try it out, see how it goes, then complain or cancel the port stop.

Dear comrade Tal, looking forward to your book. Who is the translator?
