Hard to see the government winning this one. This case is destined ultimately for the privy council and we know how they will rule....

Fred Smith got y'all running scared from his hospital bed. LOL. Calm down. Nothing is going to change. Accept it and carry on with your life.

I am surprised you have not come up with a false conspiracy theory yet. LOL.

Please Bahamian people (and our foreign friends, deranged and sane) try to relax. We have seen this movie many many times before and we know how it ends. These politicians are just playing you. They talk big about enforcing the law, throwing a Pavlovian bone to the pot cakes so to speak and all these hating anti Haitian Bahamians begin foaming at the mouth. Just relax and enjoy the status quo. At the end of the day your belly will still be empty, nothing will change

I know this is a serious subject but the entertainment value of these comments is off the charts. The tribune should charge access to these comments. Dave Chappell is a joke. Lol.

URCA’s motto: “through regulation we will guarantee the perpetual enslavement of the Bahamian people to dirty, expensive fossil fuels.”

They fulfill this mandate everyday.

He surely will.... as soon as it heals😁

Full of sound and fury but signifying nothing. Nothing but hot air, pandering to a mass of rabid anti- Haitian Bahamians. This government will do nothing to deal with our illegal immigration problem.

So calm down everyone, you are only getting your blood pressure up for nothing. LOL.

URCA is a disgrace. It is independent in name only, but it is beholden to carrying out the wishes of the government and by extension government corporations like BPL. In doing so it severely restricts the ability of Bahamians to be energy independent and wants to have us enslaved to expensive, dirty energy from BPL forever. It’s policies put lie to the government’s stated goal to foster renewable energy and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. It is a sham.

For example I want to put in a solar system to cover my entire energy use for my home in Long Island but I am so severely restricted in the size of my system that I can at best cover 40% with the maximum allowable system. Why is this? You would think they would welcome persons producing clean energy, cutting down on the barrels of polluting oil imported to our island. The reason is they want to protect BPL and its revenues and the good of the country and the environment be damned. URCA is a perversion of what they were created to be.

Moncurcool is correct. After Matthew GBPC spent extra to buy poles that can withstand much higher wind speeds and these fared well in Dorian. I am sure they will replace all the damaged poles from Dorian with the same improved quality. Sadly this company was allowed to buy out all Bahamian shareholders at a below fair value price. The govt should be ashamed to have allowed Emera to do this.

Godspeed to the greatest Bahamian living today, perhaps since independence. Rest up and heal, your country needs you!
