Add in the $2.5mill taxpayers paid him for nothing. Treasury is broke but somehow the check cleared quickly for the PLP to take and give Gibson $2.5mill more shingles! These people are grifters, nothing more than parasites feeding off the Bahamian people. Gibson is devoid of shame or decency in trying to run again.

Not exactly true. Just from the departure tax on cruise ship visitors next year to the Bahamas, the treasury will receive $150mill. The port (half of which is owned by Bahamians like me) alone will receive $52.5mill in a passenger facility tax for each cruise visitor regardless if they leave the ship or not. Many hundreds of millions more in ancillary benefits w job creation and other taxes paid. Not all wine and roses w these cruise ships but they make a substantial contribution to the financial benefit of the Bahamas.

Just reality, Mr. Negativity. Please sit on the sidelines and leave more shares for us Bahamians who want to share in the wealth creation of this country.

Fantastic that Bahamians own half of the equity in the port. Shares in the NCP are like gold. Can’t wait for the opportunity to invest in the RCL beach club project.

I really wished Arawak X would have succeeded, as they were trying to fill a much needed void in the local capital market. However, clearly they were woefully undercapitalized and almost certainly had business model that was not viable in the Bahamas. A deeper dive into the prospectus of one of companies offered showed an absurd valuation, at least twice that of established profitable successful companies on BISX, totally out of whack for a risky start up businesses w low profit margins and high risk of failure. Even in the best case scenarios ( company survives and meets projections) investors in these companies significantly overpaid.

Yes, Starlink has taken over the family islands. In areas BTC and ALIV do not have fiber they can not compete w Starlink.

This PLP government has no mercy for the Bahamian people. It was their complete incompetence in failing to hedge fuel prices that led to this terrible situation, then they jack rates up jto the highest level ever in the summer heat when consumption is highest. They need to be voted out of office for this alone!

That is not a photo of Rock Sound, Eleuthera, it is a photo of Cape Santa Maria, Long Island.

Sounds like Arawak X could use some crowdfunding?

Couldn’t agree more. Amazing how when he was PM he couldn’t figure out or do anything and now out of office he has all the answers. Mr. Minnis had a parliamentary landslide mandate from the people to make substantive bold changes and he failed. No need to hear from him again, he failed us, time to move on.
