Illegal immigration is not nearly the problem most Bahamians think it is. The reality is that the country greatly benefits from and needs the cheap labor that they provide. Construction in the the country would almost come to a standstill without foreign (predominately Haitian labor). At the very least it would be much more expensive and home ownership which is barely possible for many Bahamians would be prohibitively more expensive and out of reach. We need development and growth, how many FDI projects and the Bahamian jobs they provide along w tax revenue and ancillary benefits would not occur if construction was too expensive and the labor to complete them simply unavailable? The problem is that it needs to be properly regulated and no Bahamian government seems capable of doing this properly, but make no mistake in the grand scheme of things illegal labor is almost certainly a necessity and net benefit to the Bahamas.
Praying is not a plan. Clearly our PM has no clue or plan or will to tackle this scourge of crime. Murders at a pace of one per day and all he talks about is praying? Tell us in concrete steps what your administration will do to deal with this problem.
Who would have thought that the PLP were more honest than the FNM?🤔. Petty had a 28k conflict of interest contract and fired, former chairman allegedly tiefed $1.3 mill and Minnis did nothing. Must be a new day after all!
Yeah, what’s next? How about get a real job and work for a living instead of living off the backs of the Bahamian people. These grifters have no shame.
Add in the $2.5mill taxpayers paid him for nothing. Treasury is broke but somehow the check cleared quickly for the PLP to take and give Gibson $2.5mill more shingles! These people are grifters, nothing more than parasites feeding off the Bahamian people. Gibson is devoid of shame or decency in trying to run again.
Not exactly true. Just from the departure tax on cruise ship visitors next year to the Bahamas, the treasury will receive $150mill. The port (half of which is owned by Bahamians like me) alone will receive $52.5mill in a passenger facility tax for each cruise visitor regardless if they leave the ship or not. Many hundreds of millions more in ancillary benefits w job creation and other taxes paid. Not all wine and roses w these cruise ships but they make a substantial contribution to the financial benefit of the Bahamas.
