The dirtiest four- letter word I can think of is B A N K. Bahamian banks have 20% of their loan portfolio in arrears, meaning they can not charge interest on these delinquent accounts. So to make up for this shortfall, they are increasing fees on their good customers! Their fees are absolutely criminal. Last week on top of the usual service fees, my bank added a $15 monthly fee, so I went in and closed my account and my credit card with them. Bahamians need to realize that the bank is not their friend, and is only interested in their profit and separating their customers from as much of their money as possible.

Mr. Wilson your exoneration of BOB's board is complete hogwash. While it is true scotiabank and first Caribbean also booked huge loan loss provisions on bad loans, they did not require a bailout and still had adequate capital levels and retained earnings. Scotiabank earned 5.7 billion in net income last year, so a 109 million loss is really immaterial. BOB on the otherhand because of the incompetence of it's management and board booked a 69 million loss that was not immaterial and meant that the bank was for all intents insolvent. This despite being recapitalized earlier this year by NIB. This entire board and management needs to be replaced, before they destroy any chance of this bank returning to profitability and become an even larger drain on a weary Bahamian taxpayer. Anyone with more than the deposit guaranteed level of $50,000 in this bank is playing with fire and need their head examined.

So much blame to go around but no accountability. Of course the entire BOB board should be replaced immediately. The managing director's resignation should have been tendered Friday. Anyone who leaves more than $50,000 (max level depositors insured for) in this bank needs their head examined. Of this bank's 750 million loan portfolio an astounding 58% of the loans are either past due or impaired. There is no sugar coating it as that farce of a press conference tried to do on Friday, this bank has been grossly mismanaged and if not for govt intervention would be teetering on insolvency. It is truly frightening the financial situation this bank is in.

Is there anyone who can save us from this incompetent moron? Mr. miller your excuse sounds like a little child telling their teacher that the dog ate their homework. Please grow up there are 5000 homes in this country without electricity because it costs too much. We are tired of excuses, my bill is sky high yet oil has fallen 25% in the last 4 months. So this fuel charge really is a sham, my surcharge has been increasing not decreasing! Get someone to run the company who can stand up for us, demand accurate fuel bills from shell or go to another supplier. We are tired of your pathetic excuses. Give us accurate lower bills or resign.

I for one forgive him, now let us move on together and address these serious issues afflicting our beloved nation.

I am sorry but I hardly believe a word that comes from our commissioner, he has lost almost all credibility, and as such should just resign. He is a decent man but it is time to move on to someone we can trust.

Ms. Butler can try to spin this but NIB has been grossly negligent with extremely excessive administrative expenses. From the ninth actuarial review of NIB:

The report noted that NIB’s administrative costs in 2011 stood at 21.6 per cent of contribution income, a ratio far in excess of similar schemes in the Caribbean and developed world, and which had been driven by “overstaffing” and “relatively high salaries” paid to staff.

#Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago ran social security systems where administrative costs, as a percentage of contributions, were 5.2 per cent and 4.9 per cent, respectively - more than four times’ less than NIB’s ratio.

Shortly, contribution rates will be increased again to compensate for this corruption. Stop wasting our pension contributions!

I believe it is law that a meter must be on the outside of a building so it is readily accessible to B.E.C. If so then Ms. Thompson is clearly at fault and should be fined and ordered to move her meter like everyone else. At the least stop complaining when we finally have people trying to do their job made more difficult because of her actions.

Politics is a dirty business, and what goes around comes around. LBT apparently has been overtly and covertly undermining Mr. Minnis leadership and that situation is untenable. He needs to remove this dissension from the party and have unified leadership. The country can not afford another term from this inept, corrupt government. Our problems are too real and dire. Unfortunately our only real options are terrible govt from the fnm or really terrible govt from the plp.
