While I am not in favor of the blanket approach to bail denial, how can they appear to be maintaining any real law and order just by reversing it. Are lawyers tired of not having bail proceedings to itemize in billings? Do they not fear their fellow Bahamians being robbed with threat of death that sources a lot of the bail funds? Make the drug sale/purchase without weapons bailable fine. But any weapon, break-in or any issue involving violence, the threat of violence or actions reasonable expected to cause physical harm remain....

While I despise most of Mr. Moncur's publicly stated beliefs on social change, attacking or intimidating him is vile. It also gives some form of credence to his many warped world views. The most refreshing aspect was his description of the luxurious food being catered at decent expenses at the meetings he attended while in the Senate. Otherwise, he's a silly man that is melodrama unto himself. Hope he stays safe and we get to ridicule him with ideas and not commit to violent acts.

These speak to my experiences. Had a cousin that would get beaten by her Jamaican husband, from a family of officers, but would always defend him after. We kind of gave up after a while and it makes me sad but it's tough. They had to be talked down from doing things on their own because it was likely she would bear witness against her family. She was hospitalized before.

No issues with the service yet, seems better than BTC, I've have both in active use since they launched. Prices were much better before BTC mobilized discounted price schedule to slow the bleeding. Now they are comparable and should be treated based on your usage and pay levels. BTC wins in terms of the low usage person who only top up small amounts incrementally or medium amounts once every few months. Aliv is a bit better for high use person especially ones who have spikes in usage with the month to month subscriptions allowing you to plan for larger packages if you know it will be busy and reduce to medium to smallish packages the next month. They are sharing mostly the BTC network, so idk how it will fair once they are mandated to use their own network or BTC is no longer ordered by URCCA to permit usages of the network.

Not saying that this wasn't political influence to enrich, but dollar value of a bid is not the prime factor. There are times existing relationships, qualitative ease of addressing issues and other things out the difference of a dollar value in savings. However, as we learned, I hope the due diligence documents the key areas of performance and quality assurance were in reasonable range. If not it's hard to deny wrong doing.

But my people, do not let partial disclosures and big numbers confuse you. These journalists and the people at large get tunnel vision and refuse to learn or understand financial data or accounting. Such as many auditor general findings fail to be covered honestly. The best parts to spark out rage gets published, but the relevant cautions and qualifying statements on the implications of these reports are rarely discuss or even published. Do not become a mob frothing over blood when you don't possess the relevant appropriate understanding to judge the results of these professionals. The same way you hire a lawyer to review legal issues, apply some of the same safeguards to being misled. Because you will only be puzzled and upset when the final results can't live up to your orgasmic idea of what this information means.

I think the kick backs aren't an issue unless we aoply context. Not that its justified because it was status quo. But, we kept electing the same group of old folk expecting change. I didn't vote for the them, admittedly. While they appear to be making moves, they haven't brought any harvest. After two years in office I want reliable status report from the benchmark left by the plp the changes or policies and agreements approved by parliament to remedy.

But for now, I see the same swagger of attempt to change while onboarding many politically aligned consultants to replace the old politically aligned folk. In my work, I see some first hand that issues are on moving continuous without even tone at the top or board policies initiated to address the highly publicized criticisms of the plp. Not benefiting from and government party influences, I just hope we get something from this spectacle.

Even if we find a link that Marijuana removes mental abilities, or even causes cancer (which people believes it fights but I don't buy in), how is that different from the ever growing issues with kidney failure, liver disease, lung disease, HBP, Heart Failure, Gum Disease, COPD etc etc...from Alcohol, Tobacco, Pain Killers, and other overly prescribed and OTC drugs.

Personally I believe decriminalization should be on all "illicit" drugs, but things should take their due process. Furthering "crack downs" has been the stated goal of many new administrations and while the police have made some big stops, the industry still continues because it has not been stopped enough. This process also will reduce if not remove large pieces of corruptions regarding payments to allow certain amount of shipments to pass, only catching shipments of inferior product intended to give the public spectacle something to refresh passive support of such actions. You will also notice, most drug capture notices are tied to criminal areas and fire arms. Anecdotally, most people I've seen using these drugs are gainfully employed persons smoking in their homes, or in private areas. Only the bold gangster types are being caught, furthering the cycle of poverty and victimization. While it's not the police's fault someone is breaking the law, we need to give policies to allow them to not reinforce draconian methods on the lower class. It's like when they banned alcohol consumption, the middle class to wealthy could afford membership costs or high priced private events to consume alcohol in privacy and security from being arrested while lower class individuals were consistently charged in breaking the law because they could not afford the arrangements or bribes for their consumption.

It cannot worsen an epidemic also, as a kid marijuana was available at my private highschool by more than one person per grade level on a daily basis....It's a blind and silly thought to continue a failing policy on moral grounds.

Whilst, if we can redistribute funds in equipping people with skills and rehab similar to how abstinence only state funded programs have not had causal relationships in a decline above expected range of statistical error for teen pregnancies, STI remittance or abortions....why would this be beneficial? I hope it is not a generational bulwark, in terms that we must wait for another generation who become the majority to enact this policy as this would also cause other issues that may be present in that generation to be sidelined for the next generation. We need changing policies to fit the need of the people not ideological stances to stand for a period of time for the sake of nostalgia and personal principal being imposed on another person.
