Over their time in office, the PLP surely has to have done something for the good for the people; otherwise the people would not have voted them in. The original PLP represented something much different than what they are today. Originally the PLP’s ideals were embraced by a people that needed a savior and we wanted a chance to be in charge of our own destiny. Yes, some good came of out of our independence, as was mentioned above by another poster, such as access to free high school, COB, NI but these are all things that would have been done by anyone coming into power as a way to help its people. The fact that Pindling was the “savior” is truly unfortunate because along with all of the charisma and good talk that he presented, he made some very dangerous choices for our country at its birth. We now know what happens when you choose leaders with no integrity. He sold us out from the very beginning to the drug lords and that is the legacy that will follow him forever, that of a corrupt leader. And so, as long there is association with Pindling and the PLP, you will be painted with the same brush.
The corruption today is so blatant. There are so many scandals/lies that you must keep a list and do daily updates. Everything with illegal gambling has been facilitated and it has been all roses for them. It is disgustingly clear who they protect…against the wishes of the people. The spit in our faces and have no shame that the country is sinking further under their watch. We now pay VAT on everything and it is becoming so difficult to just live a healthy life. Healthy food and health insurance already so high, now VAT on top of that. I am all for paying taxes to get us out of debt but all I see this government doing is spending it up and mismanaging. They couldn’t even stick to the 9M for Carnival? What kind of idiots…”forgot” about the other events that would bring up the cost”? Complete idiots running our country! No Trust in them!

Christie MUST resign! For ALL of the repeated failures they have put us through. We have no trust in Christie and his PLP. They have ruined our country with the multiple failures they have led us to... all the while, smiling it up. Much of their deceptions have come to light...too many to keep count. Many are still hidden. There is so much corruption and scandal at their feet, it is all they know to do...lie, cheat, victimize and hold this country back only to fill their pockets and fulfill their greedy agendas. PLP's...open your eyes! We law abiding, good people want a country that is free this government's stench! If there are any decent PLPs out there and you wonder what you can do for your country, it is just to open your eyes and put country first! The love that binds you to the PLP Is based on old family loyalties that were there only to cover corruption. If not old family loyalties, then you have either benefited from their corruption or are benefiting and you are too afraid to turncoat. Your are afraid to do what's right but if you want the Bahamas to have a chance to survive you must open your eyes and turn away. Right and good people do not support this government.

I am so pleased to see these talks happening. Many of our governmental bodies are structured in a manner that allows the corrupt to take advantage of the system and allows them take actions that do not benefit the Bahamas, but rather, only a select few of political elite (with crumbs to those that follow them). There are no checks and balances in dealing with the important decisions made for our country.
Many dishonorable politicians in both the FNM and PLP have used this dysfunctional system all along and have taken great benefit at the expense of the people of the Bahamas.
Let us stand together in one thing, let us stand together against corruption! Let us fight together for a government that is transparent, fair and effective for all bahamians. Once corruption and corrupt practices have been rejected by the people, only then will we have a clearer view on how to deal with the problem with our education system, crime, our national development and building a better future for ourselves.
Corruption in government is the one thing above all that holds us back from being the best that we can be.

ED says...

We need to DEMAND that the next party we vote in gives us a working FOIA within the first year in office! Let us demand the government that we deserve, one with integrity and loyalty to country.

These crooks we have now are the biggest crooks yet! They are disgusting in the way they are governing our Bahamas! I don't know how they can stand in Parliament and not hang their heads in shame. The supporters of this government particularly... my Goodness...how can you be so blind to not see the corruption, the damage that is being done. These clowns are the worst choice to move our country forward and never could I have imagined it would be this bad.

They don't even like their own people, the love of money and power is carried in their blood and they only care about themselves and their selected few that help them carry out their agenda. We must move away from this party loyalty and find loyalty to country. Our children deserve a better Bahamas.

Why should the people of the Bahamas not demonstrate outside National Stadium this weekend? Those of us without power, should carry our backsides over to the NS and express our disapproval. I'm not saying interfere with the relays but stand outside and peacefully demonstrate to show the world (there will be camera crews all over the place) the lousy way in which this government treats it's people and show this government that we won't take it any longer!

When it comes to VAT, why are we still paying??? We have everyday examples that prove the mismanagement of the people's money...and we keep giving them more to squander!

The crookedness is beyond belief people! Wake UP!!

On How are the BEC power cuts affecting you?

Between PLP and FNM, it is only about choosing the lesser of two evils at this point! And at this point we have a much clearer idea on who has done the most damage throughout the years to our beloved country and its future. After so much scum and the more recent discoveries with BAMSI, how much more proof do we need that will allow us to understand that this government does not have our best interest at heart. How much more foolishness is going on that we don't know about...yet. It depresses and sickens me when I hear of yet another scandal swept under the rug with no one held accountable. Sadly, me and mine are already planning our way out, because this country is for them and theirs only, there is no future for our children here.

ED says...

What a warped mentality you have. In plain sight with no shame these theives hold their head high as if they've done nothing wrong. Wake up...they are robbing the Bahamian people from every direction, there is no question about that. For you, dare i say a "Bahamian"?, to continue to defer attention from the real issues (our politicians robbing us blind and mismanagement of the country's affairs), only shows how blinded you are by them already. This blind acceptance of all things PLP, reflects very badly on you. The corrupt are blind to the corruption. Don't worry though, there are many like you, who are oblivious to the harm their ignorance is causing. So much beauty and potential that God gave us and after 40 years of FNM/PLP, it doesn't matter because people are becoming afraid to visit and many Bahamian family are looking for a way out.

ED says...

If we could only elect someone like Mr. Bowe to lead this country! He has a fully functioning brain, unlike most of those we elect, who run this country off half of a greedy brain cell.

You know why decent people don't run for government? Because the corruption is so deep that anyone with the best interest of this Country at heart, will be turned away. Those in power will fabricate a lie, threaten, or victimize in order to get them to stay down.

The current independent Bahamas was bred out of corruption. Corruption was nurtured and kept in power at all cost - it continues today. The Sons and Daughters of that disgrace will continue to drag us further and further into despair.

I am tired of asking WHY, because I know it's because they are crooked theives from the bottom of their lying, cheating hearts. They've been allowed to abuse us for so long, with very few standing up to them, that they know they can continue to kick in our @ss! Those that attempt to call them out, are victimized!! shut down!!! people are scared to speak up!!

i am preparing to leave for a place where I can see my tax dollars at work and Gov't officials are MADE to be accountable for their actions. No place is perfect, but the Bahamas is so far removed from the place it could have been. WE allowed these good for nothings to trick us and take all that we had.
Recently, while waiting in BEC line to pay my ridiculous bill, I was making my self clear on how I felt about being right out robbed. Speaking with an acquaintance, while she silently agreed, she began to look around, worried about who was there that wouldn't like my words on these politicians who feel it is their right to take what's mine and not pay they own Bills! Perhaps this lady was afraid she wouldn't get her Christmas Ham from her MP if she agreed!

The Bahamian way, "Hold on....What' in it for me?"

ED says...

Plain and simple, as history has shown us...they will continue to rob us. The money from vat will be misrouted and mismanaged. Does anyone in their right mind believe that this will not happen????
If we pay VAT, we will continue contributing to the personal wealth of those in power, while we sink deeper into poverty and despair.
Let us NOT accept VAT until:
1) All outstanding VAT issues are resolved
2) A binding promise is made by this government that a working FOIA will be made a priority on their agenda. I understand that there is great deal of work that will need to go into this but this would give the people hope that we are working towards a more transparent system of government. FOIA is in the best interest of the people. This would help to build trust, little by little until we see a working FOIA.
Make it part of the agreement that if a working FOIA is not finalized by an agreed number of years (2-3), then VAT is squashed until FOIA is resolved!! Require that who ever wins the election in 2017, follows through on the people's request for a working FOIA.
Let us not drop the ball on this one, without a FOIA, our officials will know that they can continue hide their sins against the people.

We, the People of this Great Country, have the power to go against what we see is clearly wrong for us! We have the power to demand that our elected Civil Servants serve us honourably, not lead in disgrace. United we Stand!

Speak with your friends and neighbors and open their eyes. I speak with whomever will listen. Perhaps they don't care or just don't know but I am letting them know, they have a voice, use it! A couple of us alone will not make a change, we need more people to be informed and speak out againsts our government bullying us.
