Economist says...

Bahamian women who get married and have children outside The Bahamas are most likely better educated and will cause their children to be better educated.

These children would be a valuable asset to The Bahamas because they will be adding specialized skills to the workforce.............maybe that is why all the noise about BIll 1.

People, especially Bahamian men are scared because they may be forced to man up.

You see we have a large number of immature, childish and poorly educated people who have physically grown to be Bahamian men, but very few who are ready to take responsibility for their children, their actions and their lives, who have matured and can be called real Bahamian Men with a capital "M".

Those Men are not afraid of voting "yes" for any of the Bills. They are not homophobic or xenophobic, they are comfortable in their own skin, they know who they are.

FNM Minnis = PLP Win

Economist says...

Bill 1 deals with the children of a married Bahamian woman.
How is that cheap foreign labour?

Economist says...

We need to fix this. We have a situation were a Bahamian woman has a child with her foreign husband in Nassau.......child automatically a Bahamian Citizen.

They go to college in another country and have another child.......no Bahamian Citizenship for child.

Family return to Bahamas 2 years later with their Bahamian child and foreign child. How can your full sibling, of the same married mother and father, be a foreigner, just because they were born outside The Bahamas? It is ridiculous.
Children are both schooled and raised in The Bahamas. But we continue to treat one as foreign.

Good letter. So many Bahamians are 1st generation Bahamians from Barbados, Trinidad and Jamaica, to mention a few. They all got their citizenship before independence.

Sir Lyndon was only just a Bahamian by the skin of is teeth.

Yeh, you are so right.

Was he wearing his seat belt? Did the tires have good amount of tread?

Economist says...

Why does Dr. Minnis hang on like this. He must understand that the majority of the FNM voters will not vote for a party where he is the leader.

Maybe Dr. Minnis is there to make sure the PLP win again.

If at the next election the PLP win it will be because those old fashioned, out of touch and has beens council members from Grand Bahama like C.A. Smith, Maurice Moore and David Thompson put the PLP back in by keeping Minnis.

Economist says...

She talks of speed as the killer, I disagree.

One of the safest roads in the world is the German Autobahn. The average speed is about 125 mph, yes 125 not 25. So how can such a road have so few fatalities per mile?

1. People have to/must/compulsory take real driving lessons from professional driving instructors.
2. People have to pass a comprehensive written drivers test and a comprehensive road test.
3.The cars have real inspections that include tire treads, brakes (not just the hand break) it consist of a battery of checks.
4.The Police give tickets for bald tires, for driving slowly in the passing (outside) lane and also for not pulling over for a faster car coming up from behind, if the wipers are not working and if you fail to indicate when turning and so on.

Economist says...

***Note: Bill Three needs closer attention. Let me give you an hypothesis: A young Bahamian male is in a foreign land and he comes upon hard times. He is able to make some money by being a sperm donor, depending on how much he “donates”, there could be enough little soldiers to populate one of our Islands.***

He can do this right now under the Constitution. And She can have as many children, **out of wedlock,** and they too are automatically Bahamian. But if she were married the children would NOT be Bahamian
