Truthfully, who do you think owns most of the houses in Westridge, Cable Beach, Eastern Road, Sandyport? Yup, they are thousands of Bahamians.

But don't worry the "No" vote will help them move to more advanced countries with thousands of other educated Bahamians.

The foreigners, that many of the bloggers so dislike, are moving out because there are other more attractive countries to go to for them.

Also without our educated, Cuba, which is opening up, will be more attractive than the less educated Bahamian population.

And when we get down graded, when, not if, we do we will not be able to borrow money from the countries with money because we keep our women as second class citizens without equal rights.....as we say we are sovereign, so are they...no money for us.

Economist says...

All I see are large number of scared Bahamian men. The people they are worried about getting citizenship are already here and they will not be going anywhere whether you vote yes or no.

If you vote yes many more will pay taxes. If you vote "no" YOU will pay extra to keep them, your choice.

Vote 'No" and you pay to keep them.

Vote "yes" and they will pay for themselves.

Vote "no" won't send them out of The Bahamas.

Economist says...

Minnis is a "no" voter for sure. He fits the "No" voter mold perfectly.

Economist says...

You are making so that the rich are investing in places like the Turks & Cacaos and Cayman.

Yes those people, that you so despise, those horrible foreigners who are creating thousands of jobs for Turks islanders and causing educated Caymanians to return home, will stay away because of you.

Your children will be out of work because of your narrow bigoted attitude.

But then again we will all have to settle for your poor work ethic and attitude as you drag the country backwards.

Economist says...

Mr. Cooper, don't worry about nationality, that's irrelevant.

Whoever owns, Bahamian or foreign,If they stop you from exercising your legal rights then you can sue them for damages for your loss of business.

If you go at three quarter tide when the tide is dropping, they can't stop you from setting up a fire and all, as long as you are below high watermark. In some places the there is a lot of beach between high watermark and low watermark.

Make sure you get this clown on video, it should look good in court.

If they can own an island, they can pay all the legal costs and you for your loss of business.

Economist says...

Bahamian women who get married and have children outside The Bahamas are most likely better educated and will cause their children to be better educated.

These children would be a valuable asset to The Bahamas because they will be adding specialized skills to the workforce.............maybe that is why all the noise about BIll 1.

People, especially Bahamian men are scared because they may be forced to man up.

You see we have a large number of immature, childish and poorly educated people who have physically grown to be Bahamian men, but very few who are ready to take responsibility for their children, their actions and their lives, who have matured and can be called real Bahamian Men with a capital "M".

Those Men are not afraid of voting "yes" for any of the Bills. They are not homophobic or xenophobic, they are comfortable in their own skin, they know who they are.

Economist says...

FNM Minnis = PLP Win

Economist says...

Bill 1 deals with the children of a married Bahamian woman.
How is that cheap foreign labour?

Economist says...

We need to fix this. We have a situation were a Bahamian woman has a child with her foreign husband in Nassau.......child automatically a Bahamian Citizen.

They go to college in another country and have another child.......no Bahamian Citizenship for child.

Family return to Bahamas 2 years later with their Bahamian child and foreign child. How can your full sibling, of the same married mother and father, be a foreigner, just because they were born outside The Bahamas? It is ridiculous.
Children are both schooled and raised in The Bahamas. But we continue to treat one as foreign.

Economist says...

Good letter. So many Bahamians are 1st generation Bahamians from Barbados, Trinidad and Jamaica, to mention a few. They all got their citizenship before independence.

Sir Lyndon was only just a Bahamian by the skin of is teeth.
