She gave a reasonable background on the Darcy Ryan case but is unaware of the full story as to the advice first received and his decision to go with a lawyer who wanted to make political points.
Darcy Ryan would have got his citizenship much sooner if he had not been persuaded to play politics. His earlier counsel wanted to use a more subtle yet more effective approach.
She did not put the whole matter in the context of the true political atmosphere of the day. I believe that she did not do so because she was naïve of it as she was never affected by it.
Her interpretation of article 15 need to be considered with comments made by Sean McWeeney and Fred Smith.
I assume then that they will vote "yes" to Bill 1 as that will avoid Bahamian women having to make sure that any child that they have outside The Bahamas to a foreign man is illegitimate.
As the Constitution currently stands, that is what it advocates. It rewards the mother, and her children, for them being illegitimate.
Indeed, it punishes her, and her children, for having the children in wedlock.
First of all the thousands that you are so scared of are already here and working.
Secondly, when you make someone a Resident or a Citizen they will be paying the taxes that they are not now because they are not legalized.
Thirdly, as they will have a permanency in The Bahamas they will feel that it is safe enough for them to invest and keep their money in The Bahamas, instead of sending their earnings out of the country.
Fourthly, with all of that they will probably boost the economy and job opportunities for many the unemployed of whom you speak.
Birdie, read Article 10. What if a foreign woman marries a Bahamian woman outside The Bahamas and then they come back. Can that foreign woman get citizenship? She married a Bahamian person.

Mr. Moore is one of the "has been" politicians on the FNM Council.
He is totally out of touch with the electorate.
He and the rest of the elderly FNM Council members support Minnis.
Moore and his old crony Council members are setting it up for the PLP to win the next election.
Mr. Moore, don't complain if the voters don't vote for the FNM because you insisted on trying to ram Minnis down their throats.

And out of that multi-billion dollar industry 25% goes out the back door. See the audit.
Must fix the broken system first. This country can't afford to lose $250+ million a year on NHI alone.

Read Article 10. Think on who is a Bahamian person. A Bahamian person can be a man or a woman.
Answer this, can a Bahamian woman who marries a foreign woman get her spouse Bahamian citizenship?
Read the comments in the paper made by Fred Smith about same sex marriage.
Your "no" well may in fact be "yes" to same sex unions, not to mention citizenships you don't want.
