Statements by the Government about the economy are helping the country.
Most economists and business persons, both in The Bahamas and outside The Bahamas, always knew that the economy was in very bad shape and that the PLP government could not be trusted to tell the truth.
The honesty of the new Government is giving honest business persons confidence that they can do business with an idea of growing it rather than shutting it down and getting out of the country with what they could get out.
The charging of ex politicians is also having a positive effect as it is showing that we are trying to clean the Country up.
Bay Street used to have good shopping until we swamped it with the low end Carnival Cruise ship passengers.
The shops down graded for these passengers. With the exception of John Bull, gone are the good stores. All now cater to the tourists that the Bahamas government has subsidized to come to ruin our shores.
There is nothing for the high end tourist to come to., No good restaurants anymore either.
We need to get selective and only allow the high end cruises here.
SP it is very clear that you don't travel very much and, if you do, that you have not got any further than the United States.
Your eyes and thoughts are stuck in the mid twentieth century.
If you reduce the number of work permits you will collapse the Bahamian economy.
Also the governments have borrowed so much money that we must have some foreign direct investment to survive. Can't do any of this without those work permits.
If you want isolationism go to Venezuela or North Korea.

Senator Henfield clearly does not understand what needs to be done to create employment. Getting a list of work permits is not the answer.
Indeed, if we issued many more work permits he would find that employment of us Bahamians would grow
