It is easier to yank the tusk of an elephant than it is to get that kind of information from this government.

Lol. Boy you can get extreme naw LMAO!!!. All forms of censorship is wrong. I believe in ratings. Of course I don't think a minor should be allowed to go to the movies to see an R rates movie. The problem I have is when adults are being told what they not allowed to listen to or watch. I think radio stations should be held accountable for what they play etc. That all falls under ratings. The point I am trying to make is that every adult should be left alone to make their own choices, as long as it falls within the law. Cock and ass in front of the House of Parliament would amount to indecent exposure. To be fair, the same thing applies to cock to pussy in public. Lol. Boy you are crude though.

Yes, I agree music has a lot of influence on people's mente, especially those young people who lack guidance. But so do certain movies, video games, leaders and the list go on. So where do we stop? No free society should rely on censorship to solve its problems. If everyone does his part then everything will fall in place. For those who allow themselves to go astray then that’s when the law should prevail. I always say the answer to the crime problem is very, very simple. enforce the law. Enforce the law for everyone and you will see the difference.

I would never live in a country where there is any form of curfew. That is certainly not the answer! Curfews should only be implemented in cases of emergency, say during some major disaster. Are you telling me that this is the best solution Bran can come up with for crime? Do these politicians really sit down and map out a valid plan that can really fly: One that was not written just to entice voters or make the politician look good, but a strategy that really holds water. I for one was turned off from Bran when he gave in to the Christian council and ban Jamaican entertainer, Mavado, from entering the Bahamas to perform. I am certainly not a Mavado fan, but I believe that people should be able to choose who and what kind of music they wish to listen to by themselves. I would say judging from the slate of politicians out there, including those who are presently active in government and those who intent on running in the next election, that the future looks very bleak for the Bahamas.

The BCC has always left a bad taste in my mouth regarding issues that they interfere with where they have no rights doing so. However, this time, the council's president does raise some valid points. What the heck was the purpose of the referendum? I was one of the people who voted yes and yes, but the masses said no. So the big question is, why is this still an issue? The only thing that is apparent here is that the people really ain’t gat no say. And when a nation's voice means nothing to a government then it is time to take to the streets. Just sayin.

minority of idiots you mean. I too concur with Jackbnimble. Hit the nail on the head. I for one have no hopes for future of this country. We do not have a leader. It is like living in a jungle without any rules.

Emac says...

Sounds like you are describing the majority of Bahamians.

Emac says...

The fact of the matter is that as long as we depend on the almighty tourism dollar it doesn't really matter what their crime rate is. They can be as hypocritical as they like. The point is we need them, they don’t need us. The only thing that will change this is when a new breed of leaders step up to the plate and move the Bahamas forward by empowering its people, which will inevitably increase entrepreneurship , which will create more local jobs. And I am not talking about maids and waiters. I am talking jobs where Bahamians workers can improve in their skills. As is stands, most Bahamians feel like outcasts. Both past governments have adopted this foreign is better policy which is one of the leading causes for Bahamian businesses not being able to survive.

Emac says...

My fellow Bahamians, why do we always take drastic measures when things get out of hand. We must realize that this is not an overnight problem. Therefore, one cannot expect to solve this crime problem overnight. When things spur out of control some people want to suddenly turn to Christianity-Others want to see the police force searching everyone randomly, while others cast the blame on the politicians: The same ones they keep voting in over and over again. We can compare the attitude of the majority of Bahamians to that of an obese person, who keeps eating unhealthy food, even though this person knows it can kill him or her. The doctor keeps telling this person to cut back on unhealthy eating habits but this person insists on being a glutton, until one day the person succumbs to their unhealthy lifestyle. We have seen the writing on the wall for some time now, but we continue to ignore it. The solution is quite simple: Simply enforce the law that already exists. Little things like running red lights, not yielding to stop signs, littering or indecent public behavior should NEVER be allowed. It is only natural for people to feel that they can get by with anything once they slip pass little things. Be consistent with enforcing the law. MAN up and get rid of the bad apples. Yep, it is that simple. We need to stop being reactive and be proactive. And for all those domatic christians out there, as Rory mentioned, there is a church on every corner. Obviously that is not the answer. Maybe we need to get jolted back into reality so that we can stop all the hypocrisy and pretending. When we go about our daily lives pretending that the entire world is bright and cheery, and that the problems that exist has nothing to do with us, then will we be only fooling ourselves.
