I could understand animal lovers, including myself, being turned off from the neglect of stray dogs in this country. But this post seems to be suspicious coming from a learnt animal loving tourist, because it has so many grammatical errors. It makes one wonder if this is someone posing as a tourist. Before I get lynched by the readers of this column: I am not saying that Bahamians write poorly either.
Really-This red and yellow team talk is becoming a bit monotonous. Who cares which minister says what and when? We have already established that both major parties (PLP/FNM) have failed miserably in this area. So the big question is, What are we gonna do as a UNITED people to try and save what is left of the Bahamas, short of any criminal or inhumane activities?
Many people may think you are being irrational on this issue, but you are right on point. Unfortunately the majority of Bahamians don’t give a dam what goes on their country until it hits their doorstep. This is when it will be too late!
Anyone can quote verses from the bible. This does not resolve problems: As a matter of fact it is the religious factors in the Bahamas that have this nation so backward. The fact of the matter is that people are fed up by being overlooked in their own country, while illegals can come in and get the red carpet treatment. Do you realize that there are prominent companies that only hire Haitians to work? Most of which are illegal? The ones who are legal do not have a permit for the company that they work for. Therefore, the average Bahamian youngster does not have a chance to find a job because both the PLP and the FNM have failed to put Bahamians first. We cry about young Bahamian men being lazy and a menace to society: Who wouldn’t be a menace to a society that rejects its people before giving them a fair shake of getting piece of the pie. So stop saying that Bahamians are prejudice because they object to the bullshit that has been going on for years. I guarantee you- If this farce continues you’re gonna see a civil revolution, mark my word. Then you will begin to see the ugly side of a people who have been silent on the many things that have been squeezing them out their own country for so long.
These are the things that drive honest, hardworking citizens who significantly contribute to the Bahamas, out of their own country. No one wants to be in a country that is held hostage by unruly, spoiled civil servants, an uncaring government, or religious fanatics. I would rather be living in a first world country where respect is the norm, where people are held accountable for their actions and pay taxes any day!
I have to go with banker on this one. Not because the masses believe in something does it make that something right. When we look at our campaign procedures, it is very difficult to say that voters have made the best choice, when they were enticed by money, jobs or other incentives to vote a certain way. In Short, Bahamians are full of shit when it comes to the truth. The majority are like spoil brats who kick and scream when they don’t get to have their way. They are not concern about the welfare of their brothers and sisters or their country-They are selfish and lack respect for each other. With these kinds of traits it is obvious that they will pander to the government who will play them for who they are: Puppets who run around in yellow and red shirts, pissing all over the place like dogs who don’t give a dam about the next day.
I truly believe that both the FNM and PLP are both bad for the Bahamas at this time. But to say that Hubert Ingraham is responsible for the financial mess we are in is erroneous. I believe that Mr. Ingraham will go down in history as one of the most respected prime minsters the Bahamas has ever had. It was his government that really put the Bahamas back on the map so to speak. No one puts it better than Ian Strachan-Below is an excerpt for an article he wrote about Mr. Ingraham in one of his blogs:
Hubert Ingraham is either loved or hated. It’s hard for people to be lukewarm where he’s concerned. And though some may find it hard to believe, more people love him than hate him. And here’s the other thing about Ingraham: Most of the people who hate him, or think they hate him, respect the heck out of him. Ingraham did not come from Nassau middle class respectability; he did not attend “the old Government High”; he did not travel to the UK for law school and therefore doesn’t have that confusing pseudo-English accent so many barristers have been flaunting. What he does have is the confidence of a rhinoceros and the political instincts of a shark, a tiger or a jackal (take your pick). I’ll tell you what Ingraham respects: Hard work and discipline. I’ll tell you what he cherishes: People who are prepared to work hard for this country, but have no desire for glory; no warping hunger for power. If you know anything about politics, you know it is a rare breed of man who is willing to serve and not be served.
“The cost will be heavy on all of us”. Not necessarily. Simply enforce the law and people will fall inline. Those who blatantly disobey the law will suffer the consequences. Those citizens who respect others and follow the law should not have to suffer for the few spoil apples. I mean this approach is elementary. But both FNM and PLP keep pussyfooting around with this issue. As a result everyone suffers.
