not sure how you can possibly say that the vast majority of bahamians are against homosexuality. that's absolute nonsense. without a vote or an official poll you have no way of knowing. the majority of my friends have no issue with homosexuality and equal rights for LBGT so you certainly do not speak for us/them. why are people like you so threatened by this issue? if a church decides that homosexuality goes against their belief system then they don't have to perform the ceremony but to say that a couple cannot enter into a legal partnership/marriage by the state is just nuts. again, you do not speak for me or most of the people that I know so please don't assume your voice is that of the majority.
he is correct in that his govt "won't be matched". i can't see that any other party or leader could bring this country down to the pitiful level that he and his cronies have. but he is definitely losing the plot if he thinks he has done anything productive or credible. i ask any of the PLP supporters who comment here to highlight 3 things that the PLP have done this term that have been successfully implemented without any scandal and corruption associated and from which we can see any positive return/benefit for even the smallest group of Bahamians. Just 3 things. That's all I ask.
i disagree with proudloud completely. in this instance, the BDA is absolutely correct and Dolphin Dream should not be permitted to operate in the Bahamas. do you really think that if an expert company such as Stuart Cove's decided they wanted to run their trips in US waters that the US government or any south florida tour operator would allow that? never. they would have to establish themselves in the US, hire US crew, pay full US taxes, etc...
i think he is the only one who has tried to do anything right. not a fan of everything he does but with regards to BEC i think he has always been spot on. and if the union wants him gone, then clearly he is upsetting their apple cart. hopefully he keeps on doing what he's doing. and then hopefully he joins FNM next go round...
i feel that many of you are missing the point. with the unions as strong as they are, and completely unrealistic in their demands, he simply cannot fire the people who need firing. the pressure needs to be put onto the unions from the bahamian public - it's one thing to defend employees who are wrongfully terminated but this sort of negligence needs to be address right away. i for one am tired of the unions continuing to fight to keep incompetent, dishonest and lazy people in their jobs. there are many people out there who need work - let's give them a chance. we need to ultimately dissolve the unions in this contract so that we can hire people who want to work and let the lazy and the dishonest go. you criticize Miller - and trust me, i'm tired of seeing his face and Davis' face always linked to everything that goes wrong in this country - but I'd like to hear what you would all do if you had Miller's job. how would you deal with the unions?
at the end of the day we are probably all distantly related to each other so the fact that the arsonist is related to Minnis is neither here nor there. he's probably related to Christie and Davis too. Who cares. Criminals should be prosecuted. Hanna should NEVER be permitted to build again and I would love to know who the next idiot is who hires him for a job. Moxey and Hanna and Davis and crew should be charged and imprisoned. Stop trying to shift the blame. Let's put this out to bid. what about prefab buildings? they are cheaper, quicker to put up and are now made to withstand cat 5 hurricanes.
i hope Baha Mar takes this straight to court. Shame this govt publicly. It's about time somebody had the cojones to do this. So many companies continue to get *messed* over by our governments - both parties - and they all leave quietly without saying a word. Baha Mar will not get that money so shame Davis. And Chipman had better find out where the missing funds went. Although I'm sure we can all figure that out ourselves.
this is the one issue in this disastrous country that Miller is prepared to resign about? what about lack of attention to crime, social issues, education, the dump (which consistently burns and contaminates the lungs of his family and employees at Marios). hopefully Miller stands for more than just copper. I mean, do these guys really not know how friggin' stupid they sound - all the time?

many were booked into the Cove and other Atlantis properties. I knew some of the guests. disappointing but not a bad alternative.
