I mean for a country that brags about our sunniness we sure have a strange urge to structure our whole nation on a expensive, limited and polluting resource that we don't have ourselves.
Imagine if the Bahamas and the Bahamian people weren't spending Millions of dollars extra every week to drive to work and power our homes. Perhaps people would have more to give, save, and spend. Perhaps we wouldn't have government with a deficit.
Unfortunately, the urges of poverty and stupidity comes with our poor use of resources. In fact it keeps the cycle going.
The same people who talk about inflation don't realize if the supply of taxi drivers is higher than the demand many will not survive. They'll have to give up their business and lose the investment of that vehicle if they can't find a replacement of employment. Yet we are trusting them with the economic governance, geez
You can only have so much taxi plates in this small economy, perhaps there should be a limit on how much individuals can have to hire out. Moreover, in this touristic economy there should be higher focus on Public Transit with Taxis acting as supplementary transit but we have it backwards. In 10 years at this rate, the the rush hour commute will 2hrs because all of the taxis on the road.
It the viewpoint that people surrender and sell themselves to dependency and that being cool that is sad. They make their lives meaningful and reliant on activities and substances that only shallows their pocket and shortens their lifespan. Substance which can come and go, yet quite often they find themselves not able to function without. They become slaves and wh***s to temporary things. Encouraging this dependency is only hurt families in this country.
Just ask the US to supplement the cost of repatriation we work to help stop migrants from entering their country they could at least help pay the cost. Because the current deal is looking quite one-sided in terms of benefiting America, they get the reward of less migrants without the cost.
