If medical Marijuana is made legal, and it should, They should make it a product in which PMH & the Public clinics is only allowed to distribute. This would spark a good source of revenue and help them not hemorrhage money.
Considering Commercial and Personal Mamajuana that's where it gets iffy. Personally I see the consumption of the drug just a waste of time and money however I don't think we should criminalize said individuals who partake in it. Although of course I recognize the potential of said industry.
Nevertheless, there needs to be serious regulations that limit the amount one can carry, the rules of use, adding taxation, and determining who is allowed to participate in the industry.
If it was up to me I would put finable restrictions on the amount being carried to prevent resale, I would charge a luxury/health tax on it for revenue purpose, and to be honest when it comes to the organization of the industry I think a State owned enterprise would actually be more effective than allowing private farming.
More than likely, if private farming is allowed without the government acting as a collection exporter it will actually make it hard for our growers to compete with other countries. We will have a bunch of small farmers rushing to use any piece of land they can access, flooding the market, splitting revenue whilst not having the capacity to sell a finished & packaged product. Or you'll get the MPs & number boys dominating business and the small men won't actually get a stake in the business as they can buy large swarths of land compared to smaller business operators.
With an SOE revenue will go to the state and working farmers, the state company will be responsible for packaging and exporting the product. Whilst farmers can independently grow Marijuana on either government owned lease plot or on portions of land with a commission.
Finally, there needs to be restrictions on much land per farmer can be allocated to cash crops like Marijuana. We only have so much arable land in this country. This would also help our produce industry from tanking because of people only caring about cash crops and forgetting that we can't eat Marijuana, well actually we can but not as anything other than a "nice snack"
This is my 2 cent's, comment what you think about it.
idk the auto sector should probably prepare for more downturn considering the only reason that they have the current rate of sale they have now is because this island has an over inflated amount of cars. There is only so much cars this island can house, so a downturn in car ownership is going to happen although at what rate depends on whether the government cares enough to resolve the issue and if certain business don't give incentives for the government not too make the necessary changes.
Furthermore, with inflation and fuel prices there is little room to make such expenses in peoples lives.
I don't understand why the only focus within tourism that the government takes is capacity or jobs. Like how about satisfaction or attraction. I understand the BCH and Melia closed but do we know why and how we got to that situation in the first place. Another point is downtown, its in a dump state and has been for years now yet no one seems to care to actually address it. Except for needing more tourist businesses & gift shops. Which if that was the solution business would have thrived on its own.
Furthermore, what about garbage being all over this island discarded in every nook and field. It is sad that in the past 10 years this island has gained more trash due to lack of enforcement or awareness over littering.
A broke FNM & PLP make me happy & improve the standard of our democracy 3-fold. A government without them, cut corruption down by 10 fold.
They say that those who failed to understand the past are destined to repeat it. Now Baystreet Boys gave way to Sunshine Boys all the same. Unfortunately, in our triumph of racial and colonial "justice" we got distracted. We failed to realize that it is the elite, whether White or Black who has helped their pockets at our expense.
Man, too many traffic accidents these days especially those with pedestrians. Yet we always fail to ask ourselves what we can change or do differently to change it. Maybe lower speed limits, vehicle restricted streets, properly labeled crossing point, and constructing street that make it safer for pedestrians & cyclist.
We don't even have a proper bus system yet we want a national operated healthcare system.
Not that a NHS is a bad thing, I want one too. But it's clear we need a government with at least some basic planning and management skills to move to that level.
If the government was serious they would have consolidated resources and built a new block of apartments on the former Mudd/Peas. Not single plot low density house, for each family.
And no a triplex is not what I mean by apartment, rather European style 3-5 story buildings which can house many at once. The government has wasted the donations, time, effort towards rebuilding Abaco so foolishly. Buying domes to only trash them later.
Any semi competent and educated planner can do better, unfortunately the political class make to much dang decision despite knowing jack all. Handing out money to rich investors & second homeowners first instead of native Abaconians.
Why do we have idiots who know nothing about construction let alone reconstruction and project management making these decisions. Why didn't the government step in directly to rebuild home, keep taxes on every thing that wasn't necessary for survival or rebuilding, then offer aid sub sequentially to anyone who is still homeless.
These fools literally cannot manage anything. A botanical Garden, an airline, or a hotel. Things can't work in this country because everything is so inefficient.
If we get blamed for FTX's collapse the only logical conclusion is that we deserve authority over liquidation. If it was a joint failure between American and Bahamian system then it would reflect via the assets.
