As bad as most Bahamians thought it was under the 2007 - 2012 Ingraham administration, the FNM had a swing of minus 7.77% and lost to the PLP by 6.53%. 9.22% of registered voters did not cast a vote and 8.56% went with the DNA. It is my opinion that both parties have a core party "support base" of about 80,000 Bahamians each ...who would support their party regardless or the person would have to be a real lous. The struggle for both parties is the 7 - 9% of the voters who may swing, go to other parties or stay at home. The outcome of the next general election will be judged on the economy (peoples pocket) and the failures of the Perry Christie (PLP) lead government and not Dr. Hubert Minnis. *** But we are all entitled to our own opinion.
...we have seen this traitorous act before in the FNM party, new members who have not fought in the trenches of the struggle for change. Those who bear no scars from the long hard fights that FNMs endured over the years. Back in the 80s we have seen this defeatist behavior, where persons run for cover, because Sir Cecil Wallace-Whitfield said he would prosecute their (PLP) backsides, and with Sir Kendal Isaacs, because those who stood in the shadows of the FNM was not man enough to stand eyeball to eyeball with Sir Lynden, in an election battle; even when it was crystal clear Bahamians were tired of a drug tinted PLP party. Hubert Ingraham had his share of treasonous infighting, which was quickly answered, where FNMs (stayed at home on election day) rejected the Tommy challenger - handing Perry Christie his first election win. And now Dr. Minnis, who some say is to soft and weak, but I have never seen where a load mouth was qualification for leadership to govern a country. This coming election could be a pivot for many Bahamians and non Bahamians if the PLP retains the Government ...so I pray for the defeat of the detractors and hope that whose who seek to hand the PLP another win by default will also seek to disassociate themselves from the FNM, after their defeat at the November convention if it is held.
Whatever the contention that exists in the public as it relate to the Minnis/Butler-Turner issues should have quiet itself the night of the last FNM convention – if the opposing side held any true concern for the principals that govern the FNM as a party (and the country as a whole). Those who seek to change the will of the membership in the party after they had spoken and seek for a different outcome - need to seriously take a look at their self and their future relationship with the party if the current situation persist.
I see nothing offensive, and no need to apologize to any fellow member by the young senator voicing her opinion – an opinion which has become a frustration for many FNM supporters who are ready to hold the FNM banner on the road to wining this next general election.
Bismillah Al Rahman Al Rahim (In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)
The start of Political Trickery and Diversion
Prime Minister (Mr. Perry G. Christie) is starting to shows signs of cracking in a desperate attempt (of political trickery) to swing the debate in the Bahamas from all of his failures, broken promises and poor judgement; and in his party’s (The PLP) poor governance of The Bahamas. The questions that must be asked and answered before the curtain is raised on his latest comical show the NHI (National Health Insurance) diversion. – And before his new grand performance is staged. The people of the Bahamas, your audience, are still waiting for a reimbursement on your past poor performance:- • Mortgage Relief, • Crime Solution, • Jobs, • Freedom of Information Act, • Equality Bill, • Gaming Referendum, • Public Private Partnership Initiatives, • BEC liberalization, • Doubling of the Investment in Education. You may have practiced your dance and rehearsed your scripts but I have to tell you the language has changed, and the lights are off. Your audience has left, they have seen your past performance and your tickets are unsold. Farewell old actor, farewell you clown …you dream of being a dancer and you are preaching without sound.
Considering the state of The Bahamas from 1967 to now, and if you are comfortable with the Status quo – then you are a part of the problem in the Bahamas. The PLP is the single cause of the deterioration, depravity and suffering that Bahamians have endured over the past 49 years. How can a Bahamian move from a position of championing change – change motivated by a systems of oppression and oppressors of black Bahamians who are feed scraps from the country's economic table, to a position of an alliance with a want to be elite class who is only motivated by greed and petty partisan politics – a evil system that feeds on the suffering of Bahamians who may not support them. A petty party system of corruption, victimization and intimidation …these are the things that I know true warriors in the fighter for prosperity of all Bahamian stood against?
It is unthinkable that a young man in today's Bahamas could seriously use terms like "progress in the social, economic and political arena." to describe the PLP. The PLP led the struggle some years ago - yes, but today's PLP have propelling generations of Bahamians both old and young, deeper into poverty with no hope for prosperity. No honest Bahamian would call Bain and Grants Town moving from insignificance to sophistication (and) from indignity to distinction.
The PLP is a proven failed system in the history of The Bahamas and it sickens me to know that a bunch of geriatric men and women (with no good intentions for the people of The Bahamas) would want to continue captaining a ship after such a disastrous shipwreck.
Mr. Woodside would not be the first Bahamian to destroy his political future; but it scares me that our depressed economic condition may drive many more Bahamians to make irrational decisions seeking a mystical hope - hope from the mouth of a ***dreamer***.
God guide us all to the right path with clean hearts as we enter the coming General Election Season.
I know a “huge number” of internationally recognizable Bahamian names interested in being paid, monies owed by Baha Mar. It is proven that Perry Christie has entered the stage in his political career where the truth is but a distant reality and his words are nothing but food for the fools that believe them.
Politicians are killing this country and have done little to advance the economic and social situation of the masses. In the past 25 years, economically challenged men/and some women have entered politics for nothing less than for the glory of power; and greed. And others, for their own personal agendas to advance opportunities for party associates, family and friends. There still exist a culture of “table scraps” for Bahamians attitude, which was the oppressive systems of control, practiced by the UBP. But in retrospect had the UBP stayed in power for a few more years they may have done more for the advancement of The Bahamas – than what the 1967 revolution has deliver for us today. “The Party” play games when political parties come to office as the governing party, through an outdated election process; begins a practice of revenge, discrimination and political assassination. This self-defeating and petty minded policy has being the single most impediment to our social and economic growth distribution. Day (1) on the job should be the end the party game play and governing in the best interest of Bahamians - all Bahamians, should be the priority and only priority. But we have a self-defeating culture of; “it’s our time” (party supporter time) which is killing this country and it has stagnated our development as a people. It is said: “the condition of a country is a reflection of its leadership” and if not Delusional then inept.
What is more concerning? Is the Minister liable where motor vehicles that do not meet the road worthiness standards is issued road worthiness (inspection decals), allowed unsafe vehicles onto the streets of The Bahamas. Is Minister liable in the event vehicles that do not meet the basic road worthiness standards – proper headlight angle and adjustment, bake stopping distance, minimum tire tread wear and suspension adjustments – causes harm or causes the death of a driver, his passengers or other road users? Is the Minister liable for the Social Cost of Carbon Pollution emitting from vehicles that don’t meet the basic environmental rules. Is there a concern from the Minister on these factors? And who many deaths are there; factoring in that unsafe motor vehicles are issued road worthiness (inspection decals) and allowed on our streets. >
