Yup, and these are the guys (and their inmates) who our government has selected to create our secure vehicle license plates and have access to our personal private data ...when will leader stop thinking from the back pocket and put Bahamians first - but that "is" a hard job.

Franklyn says...

Franklyn says...

oh what a great legacy, ...right at PGC doorstep.

The FNM, who is hoping to win the next general elections in The Bahamas, to become the next government, has said very little about how they plan to fix this mess. ...considering elections are just a few months away. CCA should not be allowed to continue any development in The Bahamas until contractors are settled "whole". In good faith contractor continued to provide service to CCA's Baha Mar's project (without pay for months) only due to the promise of being paid. So any attempt to back-out of their promise should not be allowed to stand.

I call on CCA (and the Government of the People's Republic of China) to do the honorable thing.

when the effort went out to collective approach CCA in a class action, some months ago, there was no responds from a single CCA sub-contractor.

but you are absolutely correct:

"CCA sub-contractor/vendor claims were being handled by a different process, and the method by which they will be dealt with.

“CCA are maintaining they’ve not been paid themselves, it’s going to be extremely difficult to collect,” the ex-BCA president said of Bahamian contractors. - which is the practice in other jurisdiction where CCA had failed in completing projects and left workers stranded and unpaid.

“CCA has historically been a problem for small and medium-sized contractors throughout the project.” - or had a protection racket going on.

"CCA had frequently “procrastinated, made partial payments” or delayed paying Bahamian sub-contractors for as long as possible, while warning them that they would receive nothing if they left the Baha Mar site. - or use the claim that the work for unpaid bills had some fault.

As said before; the 74 Million dollar elephant in the room has not being addressed by the Government. And until this entity is made to learn that you can not fuc'over Bahamians and lord untouched in our country as if you are not accountable, and as if there will not be a costly consequences.

Newcitizen: you are right *see next story*, CCA Bahamas is the "big bugger" in the room that no one is talking about they (CCA) held Bahamians hostage to the false belief that Baha Mar was the reason why their contractor from all over the world were not being paid.

What is needed and presented to Bahamian contractors is a CCA agreement that they will settle claims %100 (i am sure CEXIM Bank will pay them what is owed %100) ...I have no trust in this group until I see an agreement from CCA assuring settlement - **%100.**
