This whole article is exactly what is wrong with this country. People feel entitled to positions that they haven't earned. We need to fix this horrid mentality of being "owed" something by the government just because we voted for that party before we fix anything else.

The Bahamas was/is not ready for universal suffrage, you cannot have a successful country when this mentality is possessed by most of your voting base.

The idea that the US must be "world-policeman" is a modern one. Wilson brought the US into WWI against the wishes of the American people, and the American people were definitively against intervention in WWII prior to Pearl Harbour. Only the Cold War, and the threat posed by communism in particular, created the notion that the US must be a "world-policeman" and intervene in everyone else's affairs. Prior to the 20th century, the Monroe doctrine was what defined US foreign policy : Europe stays out of our side of the world, and we don't care what they do over there.

The ambassador situation is simply because nobody really cares. There are a million bigger issues to tackle than appointing ambassadors. Infrastructure is crumbling, supply chains are collapsing, and inflation is high. Biden is shaping up to be Jimmy Carter 2.0, a one term bust weak on foreign policy with no solution for domestic problems.

I legitimately wish that we can put people like that doctor on minimum wage, and ask them to balance their budget to include health insurance.

This is most of the problem with this country : the political class is completely out of touch with the reality that your average Bahamian lives in. Look at Minnis, he was completely shocked that he lost (and still cannot comprehend the reality that no one is on his run).

The gravy train is making the rounds I see.

That pension is soon going to be worthless if spending is not contained. Let me know how useful them couple hundred dollars will be when devaluation/hyperinflation kicks in.

Shhh.

The peasants aren't allowed to know all of that.

Going back to the old days of not paying politicians would rid us of these leeches overnight.

Fees for Commonwealth are simply too high. One reason that I don't do much banking with them.

FrustratedBusinessman says...

'She added that “the saddest thing about this is that this is the Government’s primary bank”'

This is the only reason that I still bank with them, simply too many important organizations use them.

RBC is the worst bank that I have ever dealt with. Horrid customer service and just constantly spit in your face as a client. Good riddance if they ever leave here.

My only question is who was dumb enough to think that anything would be different? This crew is basically the same as the last one, with the former DPM now PM, and people thought that they would govern differently? Wake up.

Didn't vote for either FNM or PLP in this past election, and have no plans of ever voting for either again. Might give the FNM a vote if they dump Minnis and his cronies, and brings the party back to government in the sunshine days. Otherwise, I can only hope that the next hurricane to roll through here blows both out of the country. We would be so much better off.
