"The official turnout figure, which will include those who participated in the process but spoiled their ballots, has yet to be released by the department.
Parliamentary Commissioner Lavado Duncanson could not say yesterday when the voter turnout information will be released. He said officials were currently processing that information."
Why? What takes them so long to tabulate ballots and provide basic information? The election was Thursday, it is now Monday.
Pintard for leader, with Cartwright as deputy is the best combo imo. Both won with the full support of their communities, and it is a good combo of experience with youth.
Minnis has to go with no question. When you lose seats like Central & South Abaco, North Eleuthera, and Freetown as an FNM government, there is no way you can stay on as leader. Christie had no problems staying on after 2007 because it was close. A couple thousand votes a different way spread out in certain constituencies, and he would have been PM. It was nowhere close for Minnis.
Canada lol. What was he talking about, federal or provincial governance? Provincial governments tend not to be as bad, but the feds are filled with incompetent buffoons on par with the idiots that run our institutions here.
You have to take an English test for PR, coming from an English speaking nation (which you pay for). Doesn't matter if you are English, you will pay. Has he ever dealt with the morons at the CRA lol? People should live in Canada before they talk about it. The Canadian feds are the last government that I hope Bahamians would ever learn from. Mind you, I think devolved powers may be a good idea us. Nassuavians aren't going to understand Grand Bahamian or Abaconian issues, and shouldn't have as much power as they currently do imo. Maybe expand local government for the bigger islands.
Please show me where a minimum turnout is specified in any Act for an election to be considered legit. Hint : there is none. It is a negative mark on Brave's term for sure, but in no way does it invalidate the election. This is some "two more weeks" Q type thinking lol.
Ok, I can see what you are saying, but it is a partisan move either way. Politics is all about optics, with facts taking a back seat unfortunately. All the FNM has to do is say that Brave got downgraded on his second day in office, and it is true. To the uninformed observer, it could appear to be a direct response to a PLP victory as well. People often don't look for the deeper context behind these issues. Besides, they delayed the announcement past the usual release date, which means that someone had to inform them. Election was not called until the later part of August.
Brave might have actually been telling the truth after all about the government informing creditors about an early election lol. No way was the timing of this announcement coincidental, it is a major disservice to Brave to have a downgrade on his second day in office.
The DNA just needs to disband at this point. That party was over the minute Bran left, it was his brainchild. CoI has effectively replaced them as a viable third party option.
I partially agree with you, but younger voters are not the majority of the electorate. FNM lost because of arrogance and opaque government dealings, same as the PLP in 2017. Ingraham losing in 2012 was largely due to the influence of the DNA.
Also, if younger voters are indeed voting governments out, is that not indicative of a legitimate problem not being addressed by these lousy governments?
Any idea on when they are going to come out? Have been waiting to see the breakdown by polling divisions for days now. Absolute shame that they can't have these recounted yet. Everyone just seems to have gone home thinking that their job is done.
