Lol. We can barely fund or run NIB correctly, I wouldn't even begin to think about UBI.

I love you Papa, you will always be the best post-Independence PM to me, but you are dead wrong on this one.

As an attorney yourself, you should be very well aware how difficult it is to prove that a marriage is one of convenience in the courts, and you should also be very familiar with the abhorrent practices that some of these foreign fisherman utilize when harvesting our Bahamian resources from your time as Prime Minister.

Some industries in this country need to be closed shop, and fishing is one of them. With an unemployment rate hovering near 40% according to some analysts, is this the time to be placing foreign interests above Bahamian ones in a field that many Bahamians depend on for their livelihood.

This is a good move on the part of the government. Their electoral fortunes would look a lot better if only they made more of this kind.

"We took a very conservative stance that allows the economy to get back to pre-pandemic levels over the next three years. It's a steep climb, but a climb that will get us back to normality."

AKA wishful thinking.

You can just run this headline every time election season approaches.

Ok, let's roll with your plan for a second.

Where are you going to find the hundreds of millions that they are going to come to collect? What are you going to do about Bahamar, or the port in North Abaco, or about any of the other infrastructure projects that they have invested into/own here?

China has already won, they will do what the USSR only fantasized about and destroy America/the West from within. While America was too busy pissing around with a foolish foreign policy strategy for the past couple of decades, China was out there wheeling and dealing expanding their sphere of influence by leveraging soft power abroad. America has been outclassed in every aspect by the Chinese, and will likely be destroyed in another 50 years, 100 tops, thanks to their deft maneuvering combined with poor American leadership. China is the top dog in this new world that we live in, and it would be much better to recognize that fact now. America is receding as a global power, while they are only growing stronger.

Taiwan is a joke, they haven't had significant international influence since they were kicked off of the UN Security Council decades ago. There is only one China, and it certainly is not them lol.

That would be a very dumb idea considering how much infrastructure Beijing owns in this country lol.

Good agree with Pintard 100%. We need to protect our citizenry first and foremost.

There is indeed an issue with marriages of convenience in the fishing industry, and I am very glad that Pintard is helping to protect Bahamian fisherman on this matter.

If people like Turnquest had their way, saying "Bahamas for Bahamians" would be labeled as "hate speech" and made a crime.

Trust me, I agree with the fact that this government (and to be quite honest, most others around the world) has an unsettling trend to care for the most well off while neglecting those suffering the most. Maybe I should have reworded my point to mean that it certainly can't fix everyone's problems.

You know how it is with many Bahamians too; they don't just want help, they want everything given to them by the government. Bad mentality to have, which is why I think our culture definitely needs an overhaul when it regards personal responsibility.

Yes, our financial systems will collapse eventually, which is why so many of these world leaders/international financers are pushing the "Great Reset". Society would reset on its own if left unchecked, so they are trying to run a controlled version. Things look bleak for the future at times : rising population will only drive increased competition for limited resources, automation will continue to displace unskilled labourers, more and more will get trapped in inescapable debt, etc.

When it comes to helping our population out, it is important to remember too that we don't have the economy of a nation like Canada that could run CERB for basically three quarters of a year, we would bankrupt if we ever tried that. There are certain limitations, but more definitely needs to be done. We have to be careful even regarding changing our tax system, we are heavily dependent on FDI. One wrong move could send us into further economic shock. The deck certainly is stacked against us.
