Congratulations to the students ' awardees and also the government through the MInister of education for such collaborative effort of giving and adding values to some local young students. We need to see these kind of good news more often with enough funds to cover more children. This is good and it must be said : Not enough.!
This Bahamian family is claiming this attractive, strategically located land from a very long time and the general public deserves the right to know all the facts, from the government, regarding the claiming of such beautiful land. Who is responsible for this mysterious expropriation of a private land? Government should officially explain what is going on ? Speculation should not own a society with enacted laws and mechanisms to re-enforce such laws. An official explanation is missing. Private property should be always protected by the officials authorities democratically elected by the citizen of this nation, not stealing or neglecting the right of the legal owner of any land.
They should back off after receiving inf.about the presence of children at the scene and proceed to evaluate them. We have such a great desire to kill that we still lack the sufficient accountability for the local Police conducts. That scenarios could have left innocent children death, thanks to the RBPF. They think the solution is in killing rather than preventing. One of a seldom few times, the police gets to the scene before further crime is committed (this is not absolute because culprits allegedly already had committed murder) and they chose to cause even more murder allegedly claiming self defense . We love in a suicidal society where there is more victims and victimization than victimisers. Sads!. I'm sorry but the Police Approach, more than likely is on the wrong side in The Bahamas. They are still failing to address minor complaints. A high percentage of murder could be avoided from early stages if they pay attention to minor complaints reported to locals Police Stations. Before being a falling victim per say,we get to be victims in so many ways.
Three houses!. All of that ceremony? What a poor vission. Head of state builds villages or cities, not three houses that somebody else already started years ago.s This is minimally good for the young three recipients but is not even enough,we the people, deserves better. This is an insult with newly 60% increased VAT. Where is the VAT-money ? Anyway, the PM should not be building houses except house models to be replicated in a particular project. Government should be only building roads with proper drainage and light, parks with free internet + giant TV-screen,schools,community centers, sport centers and government -own eatery centers, police station, fire fighter station also scattered litler center or small single home only for math and languages including English. Every particular area or extention of space, prepared by the government,of course ,adding amenities : light, water, internet & cable ready or available. The government should add systematically, more jobs by changing the rules or building code preparing mentioned spaces with bunkles under every new home ,50 or 100 feet deep, properly equipped with all can goods, surveillance equipment to see up surface, gas & oxigen at least lasting for three or four years to keep the people properly shelter and save in case of natural or man-made disasters. We are living an era of chemicals weapons and mass destruction devises with frequent signals of nuclear war involving our neighbor, the U.S.A. Pls PM open your eyes and start to display some vission with tangible, effective results, immediately before those chemicals weapons or missiles get destroy in Bahamian sky by U.S. to prevent them of reaching their (American) territory. All that poison will fall in us because where there is no vission, people will perish.
GDP growth is always good. Now, What percentage of the real, current GDP is represented by the internal/external,private & public debt ? That need to be acknowledged and established by a competent authority and also by an independent/credible organisation specialized in the matter. VAT was created to solve problems, among them, the main one : To pay the national,Bahamian external debt. And none of the most concerning, national problems haven't been solved yet, like pubic safety with the 80% of criminals free, out on the streets, mostly in NP.,only 20% gets convicted in the court of law, neither the problem of lack of transparency in managing or handling the Public Pulse. Also the security institutions of the nation including the newly officially created government organization to spy on Bahamian though wire-tapping private telephones with still insufficient liabilities/accountability for their conducts dealing with the people in The Bahamas. The concern of the RBPF still neglecting to address minor complaints is not solved either. Victimizing the citizen is not the way to go. The government should do it right or they go and let somebody else to do it.!
Ok. It is improving a little bit in some aspects but is not enough. Justice performances are a mess, only 20% get convicted and the other, remaining 80% of criminals are free, outhere on the streets. We need a plan to be bolded in tackling corruption,we still need to know where the VAT-money went during the past administration and where is it going during this current one, upon this administration taking office, they collected from the outgoing PLP-led group, a lot of evidence of big time corruption which were made obvious by several newly elected Officials including Mr. Dames who seems to be also a demagogue in most of his theories. A lot of money is from the public pulse still vanishing today by the sticky fingers of corrupt politicians who are teaming up as "A Gang" now still in power & opposition. We really need somebody on the right side of history in this Bahamas land.
There is no doubt that the current Minister of National Security is the best one so far,in the history of this young nation; we have experienced a dramatic decrease in the hammering sound of guns in the different neighborhoods in N.P. And the perspective of improvement in public safety seems to be more credible under his watch. Things(rhetoric), regarding his posture about corruption,at the beginning of his mandate as a National security minister, supported by some, visible, other members of then newly elected members of cabinet, gave some hope to a broad part of the Bahamian Society which was quickly disappointed by lack of follow up in spite of so many evidence (of corruption) found. Not everyone was hoping a stop regarding impunity about a magnified abuse to the public pulse because of the new pledge, recited so many times at the inauguration ceremony at the governor's house. It was a deceitful pledge, orchestrated by the current P.M. which officially authorized any member of gov.-cabinet : Not to expose the wrongdoing committed by any minister of this newly elected Minnis-lead FNM government. This event set a very bad prognosis and gave continuity to more abuse toward the cookie -drum also with a big time impunity. The real pledge to the nation is superior to any other PlEDGE and should be defended by any member of constitutional security institutions or any citizen of The Bahamas.
The Christian Council need to take active part in this issue by stopping the wrongdoing inside the Bahamian Churches'community, continuing things that are rights and doing other things that never have been done before like adding more democracy into all local churches that are members of the Bahamian Christian Council by creating a body of journalists and installing surveillance equipment including hiden -camera inside church's members including the pastor office in order to catch them "red-handed" having unlawful sex with members of the church's staff like the janitor or the Secretary, even the femail pianist or member of the cuire including the director, etc.,considering that many local Churches' leaders do have a high level of rejection from their wife which are force to keep silence with so much abuse from their husband-pastor. Also these preacher, need to be monitored when they travel abroad like Jerusalem or Miami or anywhere in the U.S.A. with or without the wife,in the name of the church (not in the name of Jesus),with money or funds from the church as well as traveling with young girls and beautiful women from the congregation of the church. The Christian Council of The Bahamas need to "Break the ice" and establish credibility, transparency and accountability for many bad actions that are too long stationary with impunity from their members. The Christian Council of The Bahamas needs to open their eyes.
This place need to deal with a bunch of issues, and priorities need to be acknowledged by the authorities elected to solve those issues of great public concerns. Currently,we have an increasing amount of children (boys & girls),adolescents or young adults deambuland or walking wild on the streets of a high numbers of local neighborhoods really socially excluded by the government failure of holding a proper public program to RESCUE them from further damage and abuse from the concky-joe local community which is reclutting them into "the wrongdoing" like using abandon houses as head quarters to collect or store stolen items like car's batteries, radios, also using and selling illegal drugs and getting involve in unlawful sex with other minor girls. We already have "social services" , Ministry of education, Ministry of health,Ministry of housing,Tourist Police among several other institutions, some of them private and international like UNICEF and WHO which could work together and RESCUE those socially excluded bahamian youngsters.
As a matter of fact, this country should be the first to propose to the world : to open the border or frontiers under the condition that all Countries in the world do the same thing simultaneously. Hands, human hands are the ones that produce development. We need them to pay VAT & urbanize these family Islands full of Bush and beautiful young ladies who deserve better choices than these conky Joe all araound.
