Well, not only that, but also clients don't want to come to the Bahamas anymore, the crime is choking our country and the government is about to go back to the Gold Rush times with establishing and legalizing a money laundering network of webshops. This will attract the flies like a pile of shit. mark my words. And I am not talking Bahamians, I am talking Venezuelan, Colombia, Ecuadorian and Mexican drug money.

Unfortunately the Bahamas has not recognized the signs of the time and has consistently relied on the word of big money. Big money is using places like the Bahamas. The Nassau Guardian printed a very detailed and concise statement by a UBS representative saying that the Bahamas as a jurisdiction did not fly with the LatAm market. Here you go. Rather than courting the big banks, the Bahamas should have invested and opened up to become a place where real business establish, make their worldwide distribution centers, invest in a tax treaty network.

Good Trade Off: Loosing Jobs by UBS leaving the island (yes, they are leaving, despite of all the sugar coating Pinder and Co are doing. And they are leaving bcz the Bahamas sucks as a Jurisdiction for LatAm) and creating jobs at Webshops.....

no money? 550 MM is no money? well probably its not. your right, like the receivables at BEC, its only book money. Here's the idea, Hire 200 people to collect taxes, pay them minimum wage and promise them a bonus if they reach certain goals. That feeds to the Bahamalanders soul.

Please, please, pay your taxes..... "For now, the government is encouraging those with accounts in arrears to make an effort to bring their accounts to current status" - cool. We know the result of that approach.

The only way to uproot cronyism and corruption is by having the ones that are sitting on the same side of the table on the topic against each other. So Minister Gibson: Well done! You are opening the can of worms. We need a public debate. I believe every citizen, resident, work permit holder that is in arrears with property taxes should be published once a year on a list in the newspapers. Of course. And once we r on it, no on can get a job at government or run for an office if they are in arrears. If you need a little help digesting it: Just consider not paying taxes as raping your country. In this country for rape you go to jail faster than you can say your name.

So now that Bahamas has its Monte-Carlo (Albany), its Mini Mecca (February Point), and for sure the big tower of Babylon including the Chinese language mess its all dandy. I heard we will get a HongKong in Andros. The good news is that there so much private developments going on, that we soon don't need no Government anymore. So this is now the world of the bahamas. Filled with maids from Malaysia and Captains from Australia. united states of the bahamas. An all for a few lousy dollars. All this people that came will go again, if we are lucky the finished their project or cleaned up the mess before they leave.

Indeed WTO does not allow that kind of preferrentjal treatment Mr Wilson is asking for. Good news is we are not part of WTO and new businesses need new incentives. However, I guess the bottom line is always that one has to be competitive. It does not make sense that a Bahamian based production company is exempt from Excise tax on material if it sells to the domestic market, because this is the mere reason for the Excise tax to be in place.

90% of the population in the Bahamas is black. 100% of the police officers are black and probably 95% of the politicians and judges and 100% of the preachers, clergy men and bishops and popes that are working the morale department. So who is profiling what exactly here
