He is right, why would an investor leave all his investments in the Bahamas behind and leave? Even if they wanted, they could not find a buyer, unless they give it practically away. But that's not a concern and as long as Bahamas is not on the level of Ecuador or Nicaragua, where the government thugs just walk into your office to seize your company (we are probably almost there after what happened to a large investor on Cable Beach), the issue is not the leaving of investors, but rather the not coming of new investors (besides the usual corner-cutters and scavengers). So yes, I have to agree with my fellow commentators above, its just another headline grabber with no substance behind it. Of course there is not quick fix, but the task to steer this ship around has become so monumental given the decade long disinterest and laissez faire policies of the subsequent governments, that no one seems to dare to take on this big task. Neither Khaalis, nor PGC, nor anybody in the current government looks anywhere like either a Warren Buffett or a Hercules to fix this.

they needed a write off on the US operations (to which Bahamas is attached to), so they make money by not bringing in the targeted number of tourists.

agreed. seems Obie wants the gun portfolio now too, seems he wants to become the go-to-person for rackets and racketeers in the Government. Am sure it pays well.

well some people think about it only, and the government talks about it only. and no one is doing anything. How can you stop a boat smuggling a hand gun? Boats are smuggling Harley Davidson choppers and they don't get caught.

she must have had an epiphany. a changed woman. I would invite the Tribune to hold and continue to hold that woman accountable for what she says.

who cares birdie. it does not matter if licensed or not. it does not even matter whether the rapist is a Bahamian, Jamaican, German or from Siberia. rape in the bahamas is the headliner. Perception is reality, its not what the bad serviced, overpriced Bahamian tourism sector needs with Cuba raising from the ashes as a tourist destination. All the talk and cat fights between Butler and Hanna, and U.S. Embassy notices, and self-regulation is just shadow boxing. what the jet ski/water sports operators are dealing now with is the long term effect of a lack of setting high standards and enforcement in the past (may be still now). It blows my mind that the government has not issued new licenses for jet ski operators. they should issue new licenses to new and well organised businesses and withdraw/revoke the licenses of the bad apples. The fact that "unlicensed" jets ski operators are operating is the governments fault. No enforcement, money under the table, friends and family. Usual Bahamian pirate-mafia-screw-the-foreigners approach.
