Didn't a defense force boat plow into a dinghy in the harbour and killed a young man a few months ago? Something tells me they are liable and owe that boy's family some wrongful death money. I don't remember the young man's name but his family should sue!

Watching this entire debacle has been like watching a cult member believing that their new prophet will solve all their problems. Bahamar has been to the government like the golden calf was to the Israelites- a useless idol. It has demonstrated their profound ignorance, and complete lack of economic, social and political vision. No sense of the systemic nature of governments and societies and absolutely no clue about global economic trends and ways in which the Bahamas needed to prepare for the future. We may as well had had Sir Stafford Sands rule from the grave because our economy has not developed beyond his vision and has not responded in ANYWAY to global economic trends, changes in tourism desires of a global populace, global warming and alternative energy sources, technological innovations etc. If Jesus came back today and asked this country what it did with the talents he left the bahamas- sunshine, clear waters and beaches, rich fisheries, decent, hard working people, and location, location location, he would smite us for not developing the country into the gem it could have been. What a time.

Why isnt that the lead story on Tribune242.com? Explain to the people what it means. The inability for this paper to do that is a sign of level of intelligence of its editorial board and its reporters. THAT should dominate the headlines not what some circus clown does or doesn't do in the damn senate. This isn't entertainment. This is real life and the dumbness of this country at all levels continues to astound me.

The choices are sad in some respects but politically astute. The Bahamas is a sad place. I think Bran's views on marital rape and Rodney's are both deplorable. Rodney is bat-shit crazy. But they represent a large portion of our mix up, self-hating electorate. LBT is speaking to various kinds of voters symbolically with these choices. The senate don't have an ounce of power- but it will certainly get coverage in the next few months. At least the choices aren't the same inept rumored lovers or sycophants- a la ms. rolle.

The truest statement you have ever written on this blog. I cant believe it, but you just made sense.

Greentea says...

What a travesty he is. The fact that people support this idiot tells you they just don't understand where we are and what this will take. Old Bahamian style politics and do nothing, know nothing politicians isn't going to cut it. I am all for Over da Hill but Over da hill ain't got nothing to do with Standard and Poors. Minnis clearly doesn't understand the level of the field he is being asked to play on and if he doesn't get it now on THIS day of all days- he will never get it. FNMs wake up from your sleep. The man has GOT to go.

Greentea says...

Monkeedoo this isnt the time for "ifs". Minnis is not the one to lead us out of this mess. I dont care what the FNM and PLP try to tell you and me. He has not demonstrated in a single way that he possesses the vision, knowledge, economic where with all - anything to lead the country in this time of crisis. And we are in full crisis mode. We need someone with this kind of ability and I hate to say it- some charisma- someone to keep spirits up while we going through the valley. I don't care how much the FNM try to make him out to be the man to elect against Christie, he will take us into the very depths of hell. We are feeling the flames now- You all elect him- be prepared for the FIRE. How do you like your azz- medium rare? or well done?

Greentea says...

Part of the problem in the Bahamas C2B is a profound lack of quality control and value for money. If this was a competent organization, run without corruption- the country could use it- But unfortunately it will be a place for political cronyism filled with Bahamians benefiting from the same corruption they decry- as long as someone except them is benefiting. Hypocrisy knows no bounds in this country and it will come back and bite us on our greedy, soulless necks.

Do we really need to pay for a useless commission or demand a transparent government, with open books and a freedom of information act? Maybe we need a senior civil servant with the balls to release the information to the public.
