A woman who had two children with a man before she got married to him and two more after, has the unfortunate problem of having the children born while she was single carrying Bahamian passport and the two born after marriage- in this so called 'christian country' of ours - declared illegitimate as Bahamians. What kinda sense that make? You think she dont have the pain of explaining such fool to her children- who cant travel together, who cant represent the country, who cant get scholarship- even if they are einstein jr- because of these crazy laws. Mothers FEEL their children's pain.

A path to citizenship is already granted to men and their foreign wives. Are you willing to take away that right that Bahamian men currently have? if you aren't then - STFU. This is one of the most reasonable statements made on this matter. Anyone trying to switch the conversation to the personal lives of these and not the public implications of the statement is just trying to lead sheep down the path of ignorance. It is truly tragic that Bahamians go to bed hungry- but what does that have to do with these laws? Are you saying that we are going to have a flood of folks coming and competing with working class bahamians for jobs? really? what jobs? One doesnt have a damn thing to do with the other. Hold the leaders of the country responsible for the ridiculous state of the economy not boogey man 'foreigners' who aren't foreigners in any sense of the word except these dumb laws.

Wow.The immoral, morality police. Fellas like this can't exist anywhere except the Bahamas and Afghanistan, Iraq and in crazy groups like the Taliban. Black people have known such hatred. It is so sad to see when those who are formerly oppressed become oppressors. When will we realize that true freedom, requires the freedom of us all? If we start with the transgenders, do we set aside another island for wife beating, woman abusing sexists? Will the minister be given 'crown land' on that island? I cannot imagine thinking I was born in a body I did not mentally identify with and I am not willing to judge the humanity of those who have gone and are going through it.

Ms. Damianos, all I can say is Vote Yes on June 7. we need to put patriarchy to bed in this country. the pastors here against the bills are like the pastors in the US supporting the Donald. they are AFRAID that if women in their congregation actually think they are equal - as the good Lord intended, their authority will be threatened. Time for Bahamian men to Earn their respect rather than expect it because of some flesh hanging between their legs.

amazing those who want to just see business as usual and the status quo maintained rather than having the country run properly. this is separate issue from immigration and won't have any impact on the business of Haitians and Bahamians loading their boats in northern Haiti for the one way cruise to the Bahamas.

I like good surprises, but this one might be a little too much to hope for. It would call for a complete re-evaluation of Christie on my part.
