If the government give all these rich fellows- Brent or anyone else- permission to grow and export cannabis- while people in Fox Hell Prison for carrying less than an ounce- there should be a riot in this country. I don't smoke but dammit I might lead it. Tired of this foolishness.

This is a dumb unproductive question/ in response to a dumb statement. Tells you everything you need to know as to why Brent Symonette has never been able to rise to PM. What we are ready for is an uncorrupt, visionary, competent and courageous PM who has a heart for this country and a bit of personality - enough to connect with the people. It has little to do with whiteness and everything to do with what Brent Symonette is NOT. He lives in a bubble and is completely unaware of how he looks to the average Bahamian. ALL these years in politics and he is as much a mystery to Bahamians as the day he entered front line politics. So we have to make it up from what we see coming from him. That being said- I find him to be a "Bahamian white" who has taken far more from this country than he has given, has a disdain for black people, does not socialize far beyond his circle, has no clue what the struggles of the average Bahamian face and frankly is not really smart. He has zero political accomplishments to show for all these years in the House. He cannot point to one initiative, scholarship, entrepreneurial program, etc he has developed for Bahamians. He is wealthy - but wealth doesn't impress me especially when you have a head start based on Bahamian white privilege - and fail to reinvest in Bahamian people. Like so many rich and middle class people here, a lot of their wealth has come from political dealing. That is what the "political class" is. Broke like the rest of us without politics. Brent has profited more from political dealing than most. Without periodic infusion from politricks, I wonder where they would be as so called businessmen.

Greentea says...

That would take vision and courage- both in extremely short supply here.

Street party in Montell Heights the night a major drug dealer is killed? Who thought that was a good idea? Montell Heights been hot for a long time. And I don't mean in terms of real estate value.

First of all- Tribune- there are plenty people in Nassau able to translate the original article with some sense- Stop using Google translate in such a literal way. Second "A source close to the matter told this newspaper that a third Bahamian was to meet both Ramsey and John in Italy, but he never made the trip due to an issue with a visa." Bahamians do not need VISAS to travel to Italy so something is wrong with that report and this paper should know that.

the kid was not charged with anything and the officers were placed on leave. In the US at least there is a process. In the Bahamas the police can do this and more without a peep from politicians. The PLP need to stop the posturing. We cant even get the US to stop with the crazy, baseless warnings- so we certainly can't do a dam thing about this.

16 with ovarian cancer? wow. Cancer is a plague in the Bahamas. We need to address it as such.
