NEMA should be disbanded and non-thinking, arrogant, mediocre public servants like this sent home. Shame they didnt train them how to think on their feEt in response to actual disasters - or in other words - How to do their jobs- Unbelievable!
The tourism minister is clueless. imagine what insight he would bring to the leadership of this country if he ever becomes prime minister- frightening. Make Bay Street attractive to Bahamians first and maybe the center of town would become a place visitors might want to be. Allow for proper parking, takes forever to find a place to to into John Bull or the linen shop- the last two real stores in town. No music spaces, no book stores, no art galleries, no sidewalk cafes, no food store or nicely stocked convenience store, no bahamian goods store, no florist, no hardware store, two or three clothing stores, but quality dicey, all the shoe stores gone, number houses present though. Like the economy- Bay Street has NO diversity and NO Life- so it should come as no surprise that economy is as run down as Bay Street. ANd as rundown as those buildings are- the OWNERS refuse to do anything with them, charge rental rates as high as Como Hill and raise it higher if the business seems half successful or they have a child interested in starting a similar business- the same business- in that spot. And they won't sell. Make the landlords use, refurbish or sell the space - brokered by a Mayor of Nassau office who only approves sale to those with a plan for redevelopment. Its good to dream.
COB has accounting degree is probably one of the strengths of the place. I know many accountants who came through that system, went abroad and realized they were more than prepared to excel. In fact some graduates pass the CPA exam without with their accounting degree in hand. The problems the college is facing has very little to do with the program and everything to do with the culture of the place- which my sources say is toxic. This is a tragedy.
Ask Deputy Leader Turnquest. According to him, that would seem reasonable. As sad as the situation is in the southern islands, the bahamas is lucky that storm didnt sit over Nassau. We would have been sent back to the stone age- the flooding alone would have been devastating.
What does anything u say have to do with proudloudandfnm said? The fact remains- most sane people won't give a dime to the PLP for relief! of FNM for that matter. Let Roberts reach into his own fat pocket.
This is about the dumbest thing I have heard to come from a politicians mouth in - what at Least the last 24 hours! Crooked Island. Long Island, Acklins all have a higher elevation than Grand Bahama. We already cut down all the hills in Nassau and during high tide water comes up out of the ground in parts of the inner city- I have seen it with my own eyes. If a hurricane strikes the northern Bahamas water would be across the island from sea to shining sea. Where will we run then. There is nowhere to go dumbass! You have been given the 700- protect, develop the 700! Now is the time to do something progressive with the southern islands, that could benefit the entire country. Experiment with new forms of electricity generation. Insist that homes are buildt in a certain way, subsidize this if anything. Design houses that can collect water like in Bermuda and Guyana. Do something innovative for God's sake. Head Knowles, LBT and all the Bahamians working together demonstrates the impressive level of guts this country has. Why are our leaders blind as damn bats?
Generally u make sense- but this sheet this man talking sounds like George Bush after hurricane Katrina in relation to New Orleans. the whole bahamas is being impacted by global warming. Are we going to relocate the WHOLE population of the Bahamas? Where? Como Hill? During hightide, water floods properties in The Grove in the Middle of Nassau!! He is a Dumbass and if you believe its ok or even a real solution then in this case- you are too.
Ramsay is a fool then. And will bear the brunt of my scorn until we hear about the others he shared the money with. Funny how its more than the 300gs we thought.
