They knew the papers for his workers were up to date. This was political intimidation and if Mr Mitchell is behind this lowness- he need to go to the back of the line in terms of leadership. This is not the way forward and if he believes that it is- careful that the hand you use against others doesn't come back and slap the s##t out of you. The fact that it can happen with officers sworn to uphold the law reeks of even more corruption. For political power, these folks are leading my beautiful Bahamas down a path they don't have the intelligence, will or skill to steer out of. Sad state of affairs.
Cry me a river. I am sure they will be just fine on over priced, over rated cable beach and far too expensive, environmental disaster, greed pot Sandyport. After charging 5000 a month for a two bedroom condo - the mortgages should be paid.
Ahem- business acumen? What business acumen? has this man ever been in charge of something that actually made money? Please let me know because every time I hear his name i immediately think financial disaster and spin doctoring. he has the incredible ability to speak out of two orifices at the very same time- incredible.
"unless there are personal and corrupt reasons that they are trying to pursue" .... Who is Izzy's former lawyer? Once identified, perhaps we should ask how his former lawyer was paid....Corruption and special interest on the part of the political class cyaan done in this country. Been depressed since this whole thing blew up. Don't even like driving past the place anymore. Though the alternative of the airport road is equally depressing because of more cronyism. sigh. I cant tell you how many people have told me of their plans to leave in recent weeks- even the gardener!
I am no Christie fan but we should not support Izzy showing disrespect for the PM. The office should always be respected even when he or she who occupies it make you want to holler. This thing was poorly managed from the beginning and Izzy has no one to blame but himself. When you want be in charge you have to take responsibility for f-ups and failures. The PM got his own-plenty- and unfortunately for him his stinking pile will include Izzy's mess. But Izzy have to own up to his poor management. Why is he in the hotel business anyway? Has he ever even managed as much as an inn?
Foreign buyers with no real benefit to the country- but with residency status in return. I wonder if they tend to pay their real property tax? If that other development on the Cable Beach strip is any indication, these buyers rarely spend any time in these stand alone places- ghost towns. Its a little different in a community like Albany or Lyford where they come in and can hob nob with the celebrities, but not much. Though we see this kind of thing happening in London, NYC and Miami- rich foreigners buying and leaving buildings empty for most of the year, its different in a place like the Bahamas. The locals feel it more. I am told the entry to Albany is ten million. I used to roam out there for free when I was a child. Some good coco plums used to grow out there. Now the the land worth 10 million and a person like me need permission to enter.
But we have known this moment was coming so Chipman needs to tell us something we don't know. Our leaders need to stop stating the obvious and think about ways to alleviate any impact this relationship might have on the country. Come up with a creative idea for our future. We have been stuck for sixty years carrying on the same vision Sir Stafford Sands came up with and the majority black governments merely continued. Wake up those brain cells people an lets get creative and ready for change.
You know. Twice she has been reprimanded. If she is culpable she should resign. If she is innocent of wrongdoing - not in her own estimation of right and wrong but according to the rules of the union, she should fight to clear her name but even then perhaps that should be done from the sidelines. Unfortunately, pride and a sense of entitlement seems to overcome people in leadership positions in this country. Life at the top seems so sweet that they never want to leave, even though their benefit to the organization ceased a long time ago. Maybe she has served her time and needs to move on.
