It isn't difficult to figure out Mr. Cash. Corruption. But beyond just asking the question- who among you- meaning those like yourself aspiring to political office can demand answers or get answers without fear and compromise? We have the questions. What the Bahamian public needs really are clear, honest answers. Who will give us that? And suggest a way forward. There is a sick paternalism about the way politics is handled here- as if Bahamians can't handle the truth and may riot- an excuse really to cover incompetence and corruption. What is the alternative? The chaos of today - where far too many people of all supposed "strata" of society wait for handouts and milk the system. You have asked a lot of questions in recent months- i hope you are keeping a record- to remind us of what has gone unanswered and unexplained in the next political carousel. Our memory is far too short. By that time- i am hoping you also have some answers. Maybe one or two bombshells will set this country right. time to demolish the pretense.
Honestman, Moncurcool's point remains though. This development has nothing to do with Minnis. Shrewd is not a word I would use with doc, but he has been sharp enough to surround himself with younger minds and talent. IMO he should never become Prime Minister of the Bahamas. We deserve and quite frankly need better at this point. I hope he quickly moves out of the way, to give that generation in the FNM a chance at leadership. The same movement needs to happen in the PLP and hpefully is happening - though I imagine things are a little different there. I think the not so young generation around 40- give or take a few years, should be emboldened by the poor governance of recent years. You can lead this country. You will have to prove that you can do better, but be assured that know you can't do any worse than these jokers. It will be hard to crack this juggernaut of party politics. The old heads (true colonials) have not mentored a new generation of leaders and the vision and art of coalition building in the interest of country - necessary in leadership, will have to be honed and learned elsewhere.
So what happened to the man "illegally" cutting fill? Was he persecuted? Of course not and here lies the root problem in this country- a complete lack of accountability and lack of will and or the ability to enforce standards. A country without the rule of law will eat its young.
I like what this Mr. Bain did. I like that he spoke up to defend himself, his firm's work and through his words- professionalism in this country and good work. The thing about this of course is that to speak so cogently and with demonstrated authority and conviction requires that you have a leg to stand on and nothing to lose- or at least a lack of fear in what might be lost. It requires ethics, professionalism and good work- things in short supply in the Bahamas. If more lay people were willing to speak up on record- not be mute- they would assist the voiceless in keeping politicians accountable for the garbage they spew from their mouths 95percent of the time. Too many of us treat the antics of these men and women as if its entertainment, when the effects of their foolery, lack of transparency, ineptness, irresponsible, unethical behavior and verbal gymnastics are entirely too real.
the ignorance of your statement astounds- the comparison duppyVat was making did not address accomplishments but girth and the tasteless manner that LBT's weight is being used to denigrate her. packaging does not determine one's mind. LBT has the right to be judged on her merits not her weight.
Dr. Minnis- dont count your chickens until they are hatched. The very political game you played to force LBT to back off, might consume you too. Something tells me it ain't over yet.
Davis crazy. 50 million can't do anything so these numbers are absolutely meaningless. Just get the right company in to do the job correctly and have the government step away from energy except to exempt alternative energy equipment from VAT/Customs etc.
Sometimes its a person's "nick" name but in many of these cases its their gang name. It seems as if you enter a gang and you earn or are given a new name. Read the obituaries of some of these dudes and the last paragraph is often filled with just crazy gang names. In a sick way- its funny and sad as hell at the same time that these fellas need a gang to feel as if they belong to something.
except for the bananas that need a little attention - the other things grow pretty easy in the Bahamas pretty much on their own after the plant catches- even the bananas. they are already growing tomatoes, onions in Andros- in fact I was on the dock at Nichols town a few years ago and saw the best looking onions, tomatoes and other produce I had ever seen being crated and sent to the states. so Andros has potential to become a food basket- but will we let political corruption destroy the potential?
