State surveillance should always be minimal, privacy is important, whatever concerns the state may have in this post 9/11 world - everyone hopes the persons privacy well be respected and never haphazardly denigrated.
Nonetheless, Read Bahamas Read, clearly all I was commenting on his the posters concern with what Minister said the former govt did or didn't do - giving that NIA apparently been in existence without legislation. So yes, I think a NIA with power defined by law is better than an NIA operating without any legislation in existence.
While I appreciate that people have issues with this. I think its important to consider the facts. The building the post office was in was rotten - will take millions to repair, as it remained in a rotting state employees are being paid, working only half days, probably getting sick, and nobody is getting any mail.
I understand your argument, but how do you account for the millions of persons who use mary jane and are educated, learnt and successful.
I don't see it as any different from the liquor we practically push down young people's throats. Less dangerous, given that any underage person could walk in any bar or liquor store anywhere in this country and no one will ask them if they are old enough. In my experience young people are abusing alcohol an making serious mistakes. We find it socially acceptable to be paying 50$ in numbers a week on minimum wage.
But I suppose all things in moderation or I guess your body your choice.
Oh all the things we can fight for, we fighting for turkey and ham still. Perhaps a contribution to school fee, better insurance that you have now, I don't know. Just like everything else in this country we don't want sensible people in charge who will be honest with us. Seems like this opportunity is being wasted.
I agree workers should have some benefits. But, the employers are to blame too. I came back home with two degrees. On the job hunt some people will straight up tell you this is a minimum wage offer. Meaning, we only hiring people we can pay minimum wage.
The described story addressed the statement that persons can't have a private life and a public life.
It has already been confirmed that there is nothing other than your belief that someone will act untoward makes having a private and public persona unseemly. My point is that then all person who have a part-time or full time govt job should not be allowed to have a private persona. Because it seems that the divide is only up for scrutiny when the person might be well known. Be fair, analyse and test - everyone on every level for the things you fear. Part of that is a track record. Thats not rocket science either.
Insecure and damaged people try and suggest things about people that they do not know.
You clearly are not familiar with this person and what they have contributed to their community.
Let's take skills and training - google GirlCon Bahamas. Ask anyone who was in the program at the GBSY - when she was their she got the co to educate and pay the welders with official certifications from COB as it then was and to accept credits towards degrees. I wonder if they still doing it? Ask anyone on GB who she has assisted when FNM was in or not.
