Imagine waking up and discovering you are Bradley Roberts!

Look, it is quite simple. I would love to have a brand new Mercedes but my income doesn't allow for it at the moment. Maybe in five years time when my business is performing better and my turnover is higher then I can consider that new Mercedes. In the meantime, the sensible thing for me to do is to continue with my second hand Volkswagen and make sure it is properly and regularly serviced. The stark reality is that the bahamas cannot afford nhi at this time yet the Prime Minister in a desperate attempt to create some sort of legacy (in his mind only!) is determined to try and force through a scheme that for any first world country would be a topic of serious and lengthy debate among the stakeholders and the populace. But thinks the PM: "I have so many gullible supporters - all I have to do is give them a registration card anytime between now and May 2017 and they will think they have won a watch! Another term will be secured for me. Aren't I such a clever Prime Minister and hey, ain't I a good dancer?"

Economist - Birdie is a propogandist and as such is not interested in logical reasoning.

You are so right Wideawake. Izzie will most certainly NOT go quietly. There will be a lot of bodies to bury when the full extent of the fiasco is revealed.

I would imagine a non-active worker is someone who is on the payroll but not actually working - for example many of the young people who went through the leadership training, were hired for particular positions but have not been able to take up their posts yet. See, wasn't that difficult!

The sad thing is that many will do exactly the same again in May 2017 because they "were born PLP and will die PLP". They simply don't know any better. Seriously, how bad does it have to get for PLP voters to reject these jokers? Do they want to wait until our currency is devalued and we are facing 20% VAT? They think things are tough now?

Birdiestrachan, is that really the extent of your contribution to this discussion? Heaven help us! No Bahamian wants to see the country downgraded, don't be so ridiculous.

Honestman says...

Perhaps we are being a bit unfair on Mr. Christie and his cabinet. I know that since they came to power in 2012 they have:

1. Presided over an increase in the murder rate of 30%
2. Failed to deliver the constitutional referendum.
3. Completely reneged on promises made after the botched gaming referendum.
4. Dropped the ball on the insurance of BAMSI.
5. Failed to deliver Mortgage Relief.
6. Presided over another downgrade in the country's credit rating and an increase in the National Debt.
7. Totally mismanaged the BahaMar project.
8. Allowed the Chinese to have an unhealthy economic hold over our country.

But hey, let's give them a chance. I'm sure they will get it right with NHI !!

Who will step forward and be the beacon of hope for a country that has been abused by those that were trusted to make intelligent decisions on its behalf? Who will rescue The Bahamas from this bunch of greedy, unaccountable, untrustworthy, incompetents?

Honestman says...

This is indeed a "teachable moment" for Izmarilian. The lesson is: never ever get involved with The Bahamas again because their politicians are corrupt. They want your money but once you've made your substantial investment the government will drop you like a ton of bricks if it suits them. Their PM will question your sanity and the Immigration Minister will threaten to revoke your right to reside. Yes, I am sure this has been a teachable moment for Mr. Izmarilian!
