Sarkis knows the dream is over and I suspect he has known it for several months now. This government only wants a solution that keeps the Chinese happy. I think we all know why!!

PLP apologist Wendel Jones in his radio talk show today pathetically trying to suggest the government is not at fault for this debacle. He has no credibility as a broadcaster as he is unable to be objective.

Just enough time to put the final nail in the country's economic coffin by forcing through NHI without any proper preparation. We have the worst administration in the history of The Bahamas and yet people are still claiming that they will not vote for Minnis come May 2017!!!! What's wrong with Bahamians? How bad do you need to be to be kicked out of office????

On 2,000 jobs go at Baha Mar

The Prime Minister can only be feigning surprise and disappointment at the provisional liquidators decision to lay off the BahaMar workforce. I mean, what other option was there once you go down this path? I think it is inevitable now that BahaMar will be fully liquidated with the assets sold off in sections at a knock down price. Perhaps hotels like Hyatt will be happy to come back in and either manage or purchase one of the towers. Other hotels may do likewise with other sections. What is clear, however, is that the BahaMar brand is finished and Izzie is going to be out the picture. I feel sorry for the many local creditors, many of whom are small firms, who will now have to wait an eternity to get anything back. Shame too for all those persons who left good jobs to join Izzie's dream. I am sure that many will be re-hired by whoever takes over the various hotels but they will still be faced with a long wait. The government has handled this situation very badly but this is what happens when you compromise yourself - you are left unable to take the best decision for the country. The PLP never learns and neither does the electorate.

Alas PGC and the PLP will pay no attention to sensible business leaders like D'Aguilar. They still have another 18 months or so to wheel and deal for the benefit of their family, friends and supporters. Meanwhile, the ever decreasing and marginalized sector of society (i.e. the working public) continues to be the fall guys. Next up is NHI, a concept the country can ill afford at this time but that won't stop the rush to try and force it through. I can't believe so many Bahamians cast their vote for these jokers at the last election. What's wrong with us?

Oh but Mother Pratt says we shouldn't be making political capital out of murder statistics!! Of course she will say that now that the PLP are actually in power and have to come up with a solution. Bunch of useless hypocrites! This administration is as clueless as the last in terms of solving this dreadful situation.

Honestman says...

Why should a local newspaper have to report that there were no murders on any given day? That would not be news in any civilized country. It is just that in The Bahamas a zero kill rate in any 24 hour period is becoming almost newsworthy!!! Welcome to the jungle.

Honestman says...

The only "chilling prospect" is the possibility of the PLP wining the next election! Now that sends the shivers down every right thinking Bahamian's back!

Sorry but after such a derogatory e-mail, Darron Cash deserves all the condemnation that will surely come his way. Disgraceful response from him and shows he is unfit to have any leadership role in the FNM.
