" ...the ultimate goal should have been developing your people, their education, their healthy lifestyles, their future opportunities. Instead, you gave them a giant udder to suck off of, but now the udder is gone, and the cash cow can’t produce like it once did".

A sad but true legacy of Prime Ministers Pindling, Ingraham and Christie. Meanwhile Cuba prepares itself for the influx of foreign investment that will transform that island into the premier holiday destination in the Caribbean.

Bahamapride; For the most part, I think we are pretty much in agreement.

Great idea!

A big part of the problem is the poor attitude to marriage / commitment by both Bahamian men and women. How many Bahamian men enter into marriage with the serious intention that it is to be a life time commitment and a bedrock for the children to come? Argue with me if you think I am wrong but how many men marry with the intention to take a mistress whenever the romance cools off? How many Bahamian women encourage this infidelity for their "thirty pieces of silver:? Until Bahamians substitute lust for genuine commitment then we will continue to harvest young feral teenagers with no sense of right or wrong and no understanding of the value of education. My heart goes out to every teacher in the public school system - many of these brave and committed souls should be the recipient of the country's highest awards.

Bahamapride - colonialism is always wrong and slavery is an affront to human dignity. You are right however that, mentally, many Bahamians are still "trapped on the plantation", none more so than our greedy politicians. After 40 years of independence it is surely time for the country to move on. We cannot keep looking back at previous injustice as an excuse for today's total mismanagement of our situation. To suggest that "England has its hands covered in blood" implies to me that you are suggesting she should in some way bear responsibility today for the slavery of yesterday. If you want to go down that road you have to take into account that African leaders were complicit in the operation of the slave trade. Furthermore, it was England's own William Wilberforce who was instrumental in bringing an end to the slave trade. Using your logic, should England be blaming Italy for being occupied for centuries by the Romans? It is time to move on and for The Bahamas to take responsibility for the problems it faces today. First up we need to begin with a zero tolerance to corruption and insist on nothing less than full transparency from every one of our elected officials. Continuing to attach ourselves to the Privy Council and the UK honours system is something that we as a country need to look at, I agree; however, let's first get rid of the parasites sucking the life blood out of our country. This is much more important in my view.

If it was the "right thing to do" then the PLP should have no problem in sharing the file with the Official Opposition party as the "Honourable" Prime Minister promised to do! Unfortunately the words "Honourable" and PLP do not reside comfortably alongside each other.

Izzie was under capitalized from the beginning and you are right, the Chinese always knew he was going to be vulnerable. They have held all the trump cards since the hand was dealt. China has no interest in the well being of the Bahamas and it is only now that our politicians are coming to realize this.

Want to stay alive in Nassau? Stay at home! But don't worry 'cause Dr. Nottage will soon have the situation under control. No need for those nasty billboards to remind the world how bad the situation is. The PLP got our backs - we can trust them in all things.

You are spot on with your observation. Watch for another non-transparent award to another PLP crony for the rebuild. Bahamians are being so ripped off by this party and yet the sad thing is, many will vote for them again come 2017.
