When approached by The Tribune yesterday about the recent spate of crime in the country, the Minister of National Security refused to engage the reporter. “I have no comment on crime” was his only comment.

This sums up this administration's performance on crime: nothing to say, nothing to contribute, no ideas..............but plenty to say when in opposition! Why is Bernard Nottage Minister of National Security? At this moment in time, the country needs a Field Marshall not a Physician!

Officials in the Christie administration have said the legislation is being reviewed by the Office of the Attorney General to work out issues before the law is implemented.

In other words: "we gat three more years to plunder and so we need to stall this baby!"

I think most Bahamians are adopting a self imposed curfew. You would have to be a real risk taker to walk anywhere over the hill at night. Come to think of it, you would be taking a chance walking anywhere in New Providence at night. Heck, you ain't even safe in your car. This is what happens when a people follow the wrong God.

public sector pensions cannot be sustained at their present level. you don't need to have a masters in economics to know that. civil service pension provision is a challenge for all first world countries and these are countries where retirees have contributed a healthy proportion towards their ultimate pension. the bahamas cannot continue to ignore the huge and unsustainable pension defecit in the public sector. i am guessing that relatively few bahamians in government employment have made any realistic provision for retirement and they are relying on a promise from government that simply cannot be kept. for those of you in the public sector who have time on your side, suggest you start saving now . for those of you approaching retirement age, you may need to review your retirement plans.

A young man has been killed. This is yet another senseless murder on the streets of New Providence. The suggestion that it might have been linked to his parents is pure speculation and inappropriate. Another young man has been murdered and it could be anyone's son. That needs to be the focus.

Good luck with this Pastor but you are up against dark forces.

Mr. Halkitis. You are part of a government that lied to the people over a referendum. You are part of a government that continues to conceal important information from the general public and refuses to enforce the Freedom of Information Act. You are part of a government that refuses to populate a civil service at great cost to the Country. You are part of a government that cannot be trusted, period. Thus, you speak as a man without authority.

The FNM needs to have a convention and decide who is the best candidate to lead them into the next election. I know these events cost money but the benefit of having one this year is that it would give the elected leader the chance to create some momentum and authority going into the polls in 2017. I don't know if Loretta has the leadership skills to manage the country in what will surely be the aftermath of the most disastrous five year spell any party has had in office since independence. Someone is going to have to pick up the baton however.

On FNM deputy may go for leadership

Well said Cobalt!

Too many pronouncements Bran. Build yourself a party with seasoned and respected individuals who can break the mold of Bahamian politics and create some momentum towards being a credible force at the next election. THE DNA needs to be more than Branville McCartney.
