Excellent article which emphasizes the fragile state of The Bahamian economy. Against this backdrop, any talk of a National Health Scheme is "pie in the sky". The bigger concern is the huge underfunding of state pensions. Surely this is a time when time served and respected professionals should be looking after NIB. Instead, what do we have? This is a big worry for the many Bahamians with no private pension to look forward to.
Bet ya any money the PLP will not meet this deadline. They have no intention of meeting the deadline. This is just another carrot to dangle in front of their gullible supporters. The country cannot afford a National Health Scheme at this time especially with VAT still to be implemented. There is only so much money you can bleed from the working class. My prediction is that implementation of the scheme will be included in their long list of promises going into the next election leaving the FNM to be the bearer of bad news.
Shooting deaths are becoming a daily occurrence. The Lord only knows how many more young men will lose their lives in this way before the year is out. But hey, don't mention that New Providence is out of control or the DPM will accuse you of being sensationalist. The PM doesn't regret putting up the billboards at the last election but wouldn't do it again!!!! Work that one out. This country so badly needs a leader who will lead and we need help from outwith to fight this scourge of lawlessness. Why are our politicians so afraid to bring in the help from overseas that is so desperately needed? How many more young men need to die before decisive action is taken?
It is undeniable that this administration has been an unmitigated disaster thus far. However, the FNM has performed poorly in opposition. If ever there was a time for a third party to emerge it is now. The people are hurting, they are losing hope and they are angry. Who is going to step forward and offer a credible alternative to this bunch of failed politicians?
Well said. The Prime Minister's utterances on crime are a disgrace. He treats the populace like idiots. That's fine for those who voted the PLP back to power but the majority of the electorate did not vote for this abysmal excuse for a Government.
