With the breaking news that LBT has withdrawn from the leadership race, Bahamians are waking up this morning to the fact that Hubert Minnis will be leading a clearly fractured FNM into next year's general election. Regardless of Minnis's deficiencies and regardless of the obvious disharmony within the FNM, the reality is that the FNM represents the only realistic option for voters if the calamitous and corrupt reign of the PLP is to be ended. Minnis has a job on his hands trying to bring his party together. He has done a bad job up to now but he hasn't been helped by the histrionics of BLT. It is time now for her to consider her political future and either work to help Minnis and the FNM or leave for some other party. The internal strife within the FNM must end NOW and everyone needs to get behind Minnis whether they rate him or not. The country simply cannot afford another five years of PLP corruption - it really would be the death knell for life in The Bahamas as we know it.
There is nothing wrong with resigning after losing a general election. David Cameron in the UK did the same thing following his BREXIT defeat. So what if he has been quiet these last four years - was he not entitled to a break? He is at an FNM convention and so reporters are asking his opinion on various matters. Give the guy a break! Also, he has been consistent in saying that he was retired and would not be coming back. What more does anyone want from him? On the other hand, the PLP has the ageing Perry Christie shamelessly clinging onto power, persuading himself that he is loved and irreplaceable. A half hour walk around the fish fry would tell him otherwise!
The moronic Roberts trying to defend the indefensible! Christie and the PLP screwed up big time over Baha Mar and they know it. Interesting how Shane Gibson and Fred Mitchell have gone all quiet on the subject. They had so much to say for themselves earlier.
I doubt that very much. Christie et al have taken corruption and incompetence to stratospheric levels. No one can surpass them. If Minnis happens to win then the electorate will simply have to get behind him because at all costs the plague of this PLP administration must be eradicated. On a final point, LBT's antics are doing her no favours whatsoever - she has not handled her leadership bid well. Instead of bleating on about Minnis, she should have focused on her plans to take the country forward.

"The reality for most people will be that despite all their faults, the PLP is better than Minnis."
I can relate to and largely agree with everything in your post but not the above.
