Because we are all wasting our breath asking questions of the PLP. This is the party that thrives in the dark. You can ask for transparency until you are blue in the face but the party is crooked to the core and explanations will not be forthcoming because they hold hard working Bahamians in utter contempt. May 2017 is getting closer and payback time not far off. The PLP knows its time is limited and the opposition, the media and ordinary citizens will have to be vigilant because PLP greed knows no bounds and this will be their last opportunity for a long, long time to plunder the Nation's resources.
Christie said: “I will never stop believing that our sons and daughters deserve equal rights in our Constitution and equal treatment under our laws".
Well Prime Minister, if that is what you truly believe (and I seriously doubt it) you had the chance to help deliver equal rights for women in 2002 but you chose otherwise, didn't you? Don't give us this cr#p now.
Aside from serious ill-health, I can't imagine any circumstance that would cause Perry Gladstone Christie to voluntarily resign the office of Prime Minister.
It is always "darkest before the dawn". There is still time for common sense to prevail within the FNM. I doubt that the party would be so stupid as to re-elect Dr. Minnis in July. That would be the ultimate act of insanity. Everyone and their grandmother can see that he isn't cut out for the role. Ingraham, Symonette and other influential senior party members will surely use their influence to save the party from committing electoral suicide?
“The PLP remains committed to the principle of equality for all Bahamians under the law." said Mr. Roberts.
THAT statement my friends is a joke. The PLP is committed only to the enrichment of its party members, family and friends. In order to maintain that commitment, the party has betrayed the Bahamian people to the Chinese, the Gaming racketeers and a dubious Canadian fashion mogul. There is not much left to give away. Bahamas is no longer a "country for sale". It is a country that has "been sold". Time to put up the sign.
The PLP can't get anything right. This matter should have been so straight forward but they screwed up yet again. They promoted the YES vote and this gave the electorate the chance to give them the bloody nose they deserved for their duplicity over the previous constitutional referendum and the more recent gambling referendum. Shame that women's rights will suffer as a consequence but there will be other opportunities. Minnis' conduct in the whole affair has veen less than statesmanlike. Time now to deal with him at the July convention and produce an FNM leadership team that will consign this inept governing party into political oblivion. Not long now Bahamas.
Bran McCartney really has a nerve coming out with this statement. Frankly, it smacks of self interest. McCartney sees an alliance of some sort with Minnis as his bet at the next election and so doesn't want to see him deposed and replaced by a strong alternative FNM leadership team. A strong FNM signals the end for the DNA and McCartney is all too aware of this.
This is the last window of opportunity for the FNM to save itself and save the country. An early convention MUST be held and if I was Dr. Minnis I would not put myself up for re-election as he clearly does not enjoy the confidence of his party as a whole. If he does this then he will gain some respect. If on the other hand he refuses an early convention and ends up taking the FNM and the country over the cliff then he will never be forgiven.
