I predict that Human Rights lawyers will jump on this across the world and prevent governments, airlines, employers from mandating compulsory vaccinations. A private enterprise can however refuse to admit anyone onto its premises for whatever reason and I don't know if it would be possible for laws to prevent a "vaccinated only" entry for such establishments. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I haven't heard anyone from government suggesting that vaccinations should be mandatory. We do indeed live in a free country and people should be free to make their own decisions by weighing up the risks against the benefits. Major vaccination programmes are underway in both the Europe and the US suppported by all relevant health authorities. I really don't see what The Bahamas is going to contribute to the research process but if anyone wants to wait a year before taking the vaccine then they will have to live another year sheltering from the virus and missing out on many of the good things that make life worth living. For front line health workers the risk of becoming seriously ill from COVID must surely be much greater than the risk of any side effects from a vaccination? It is however a free country and everyone must take into account their own individual circumstances. For myself, I wish to be able to travel once more without fear and re-connect with family. If the vaccine allows me to do that then I am happy to take the risk. This is my decision however and I will not try and persuade anyone on the subject.

Why are four of these deaths from September / October? Was the delay in classifying them intentional to suit government's agenda or am I just being cynical again?

Sad to see that the PM is filling key positions with people who won't challenge him or provide him with an alternative world view. That, I'm afraid, is a recipe for a one term administration. A leader who falls into this trap ends up being cut off from reality - just like the man child President to the north.

"We need to charge much more to live in paradise."

Porcupine, exactly what Paradise are you referring to? It surely can't be The Bahamas! Persons with significant wealth have a choice as to where they reside. Why would you chose The Bahamas? We are a country that is right in the hurricane hot spot where crime is rampant, the jail is overcrowded, the justice system is overwhelmed, private health care costs an arm and a leg, public health care is sub-standard, supermarket prices are a rip off, electricity is over-priced and unreliable, customer service in the public sector is dreadful, our ease of doing business ranking is one of the worst in the world, the cost of buying and selling real estate is outrageous, political patronage is rife, you need a mortgage to eat out at the best restaurants, downtown Nassau is an eye sore. With all of this, the country should be incentivizing foreigners to bring their wealth here not charging them more.

Look it's simple. Use your brain and make a judgement call. On balance, is taking the vaccine going to be beneficial to you given all your circumstances? If yes then take it. If unsure, then don't. I am tired of listening to all these conspiracy theorists.

In regard to oil drilling I really hope The Bahamas government doesn't jump in with both feet out of economic desperation. I hope our politicians think of the long game. Eco tourism and oil drilling are incompatible. Let's protect the best that Bahamas has to offer.
