Honestly, I'm on the fence with the vote. However, I cannot follow the argument that Bishop Hall is using, 'that since over 50% of the population is gambling illegally that we should then legalize it.' Well Over 50% of the population is stealing, killing people, molesting children, etc., the popularity of sin doesn't make it right. I would have assumed that a man of the cloth would know that.
As Benedict XVI (current Catholic Pope) said when he was made Pope (paraphrasing), we cannot ascribe to a religion simply because it suits the lifestyle that WE have chosen. We must choose a religion and change our lives to suit it that is, God.
You are right. I've been noticing that. lol I think we've all had wars with him or her at some point. That being said, I do love blogging on this site with fellow Bahamians. We are a passionate people. Its nice to know what the average Bahamian is thinking. I wonder how many people in positions of power read our comments.
I agree it is ridiculous that American artists will be paid big money to perform and celebrate our independence.
The stage should be filled with various forms of Bahamian entertainment that show how the Bahamas has grown as a nation from 1973 to now. What about a play? A dance? All the songs we all have grown up on? Where is the spotlight on rake n scrape.
I agree about the naming of the bridge after Sir Sidney, all due respect, but it was not appropriate.
I know I will catch hell for saying this, but the bridge rightfully should have been named after Hubert Ingraham. A man who did wonders with the roadworks and was responsible for even building that bridge. He after all is a son of the soil who toiled to make a better Bahamas. No matter your feelings on the issue, it should have been him. He is also responsible for the big tourist boom brought on by Atlantis, I could go on...
I fear we will never have pride in ourselves. It is shameful to treat a celebration of 40 years of independence as though it were a concert/entertainment only for a few hours.
Don't know you too well Rev Moultrie, but I would like to warn you about the dangerous political game at play. I do believe that they are using your church robes to pass off any other dealings as honest and above board. Be careful as your church will also be called into question if anything else goes down, and I assure you will go wrong.
Best of luck!
Personally, I do believe that positions such as these and ministerial jobs should go to people with professional backgrounds in that field. Perhaps it will be a routine of the future.
You know at the end of the day, this is the result of many arguments that have become violent in recent times. Just as easily as Ms. Clarke's son died it could have been the other way around and Mr. Smith's mother could have been in there crying.
I actually appreciate Smith's apology and feel as though it shows that many of us have alot to learn in conflict resolution.
As far as the amount of time he got, I feel it was appropriate. This happened heat of the moment and was not premeditated. While it is unfortunate that a loss of life has occurred, we cannot punish people forever.
The same lack of resources that allows them to sign a contract in Abaco for $1.3 million admittedly close to $9 million in roadworks. Mmmm...new roads or money for jobs so people can feed their families, clothe their children and keep the roof over their head that the new government promised to save from foreclosure, but oh yeah they don't have the 'resources' for that either. lol
Oh how nice of the government to give Bahamians a few hours permission to break the law i.e. gamble. lol. I think this is funnier than the referendum. lol
Way to go members of the police force! Although usually I would be a violator of the speeding limit, I am happy to see the law being enforced. Let's be consistent now.

On The government has cancelled the 52-week job programme, citing a lack of resources. Do you think the programme SHOULD have been allowed to continue?
