Agree with mudda. Should we really pay all the balances owed if they are illegitimate balances or to fake companies where no work was done? Has all the "invoiced" work been reviewed and checked for accuracy and completion, we're just gonna pay because its on the books? To a tune of 400 million???? Just throwing around millions like they are 10 cent pieces.
VAT off breadbasket items... the food suppliers with basic IT systems will be working hard and complaining on that one. Either revamp your already expensive system to assess VAT per product, or put through 2 separate invoices, one that is zero VAT and one with 7.5% VAT. Second option seems much more inefficient.
Depends on what boaters. My opinion of small sailboat owners is they try to get whatever they can for free. Water from the docks without permission, hunting and consuming wildlife out of season (lobster, grouper), hell remember the crew killing iguanas... With some boaters I think the cruising permit might be the only thing you get out of them. Flipside is those that speed in, fish, dive, spear and leave in the same day, zero $$ from them.
Better deploy and enforce that tax-free zone properly, sounds like an engineered loop-hole for persons to capitalize on. And what happens when the inner-city small businesses say they can't or don't have the means to account for everything properly?
Booby traps have been sprung, now the people gotta be paid. What about the Bahamar booby trap that the dump and BPL must be fixed by year end, no way we have the $$$ to pay for that right now.
All good but hypothetically, if most of the seats were close, and with the rate that they are/have counted ballots wouldn't it be 2 days of Bahamians not knowing who the next government is?
Nice job, tomorrow starts the cleanup, plenty of work to do and time sensitive hurdles like the Bahamar agreement in relation to fixing the Dump & BPL. Looking forward to progress & change.
Thank you for drawing some more attention to this aspect of the Bahamar Heads of Agreement. It is a tall order for sure, and one that may be inherited by the FNM come May 11th. If fixing the dump and BPL wasn't in their Manifesto before, it sure is now.
